I placed my dishes in the left side of the double sink and wiped my hands with a towel. "Thank you very much Rosalinda. It was delicious!" I said, gently touching her elbow.

Rosalinda is one of the many chefs Rhylan's pack has. Though she was over a head shorter than most (she used a step ladder to grab ingredients off of the shelves but would never admit it), her frail body was full of life.

"Anytime my dear." She smiled warmly at me and turned back to the sink. "You young people need lots of energy. You're like rabbits."

I shot her a small frown of confusion before exiting the kitchen. "Okay...?"

As I stepped out of the doorway, a warm hand grabbed my arm. Had I not felt the shivers that indicated it was Rhylan, someone would be losing a hand.

"Hey there," she said, smiling at me.

"Hello." I say back, pinching a piece of my hair between my fingers in nervousness.

Since when do I get nervous? And since when have I developed this odd tick?

I let go of my hair as Rhylan pulls me towards the stairs. Once again, causing shivers to run up my spine, she places her hand on the small of my back. I glance at her over my shoulder as I start up the staircase, only to catch her looking back at me. She laughs when I turn back around with a blush on my cheeks.

A blush? Since when do I blush?!

I bite the inside of my cheek, so deep in my own head I miss the last step.

"Woah!" Rhylan's warm hands catch my waist. As she stops me from landing face first, her strong arms pulls me against her. My body reacts again as my back is pressed against her front.

Her long dark hair tickles my arm gently. She walks us closer to her door, her hands never letting go of my waist. Instead, they inch down my sides until they reach my hips.

"Lost in thought, beautiful?" She hums as I open the door.

I simply smile as I turn around and wrap my arms around her neck.

"What are you thinking about?" She asks, closing the door.

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

She smirks and touches my face with the tip of her finger before connecting our lips in a passionate kiss.

Standing in front of the floor to ceiling mirror in Rhylan's bathroom, I dress myself in black shorts and a flattering, maroon shirt. Rhylan's image appears behind me. I mimic her frown, teasing her.

"Quit it," she says, gently pinching my side. I laugh as my body jerks. "I just don't see why you have to go today."

"Rhylan, what am I supposed to do at home?" I ask, buttoning up her flannel shirt.

"I don't know Amaris. Sleep. Eat. Me." She smirks again, a simple tilt of her lips that throw my heart into a race. I practically drool all over the floor before I answer, and by the way she gazes at me with that look in her eyes, I know she notices.

"You have pack work to do," I try and fail to walk past her. She puts her arms on the wall behind me, caging me in. "Rhy- Rhylan let me go."
