Sorry for the long wait. College is kicking my ass. Enjoy!

There was a faint ringing sound coming from... somewhere. And loud crashes. And the heat, oh goddess, the heat. It was crawling over my skin and singeing my hair and tearing my flesh. I struggled to open my eyes.

They wouldn't budge, so I focused on my limbs instead. Those were working, at least. Though, every time I moved, it felt as though I was on fire.

I finally pried my eyes open, and they closed immediately at the sting of the smoke in the air. I forced my body to sit up, and caught a whiff of said smoke. I was instantly hacking up a lung. When my eyes opened again, the first thing I saw was the thick, black smoke filling the air around me. The second thing I noticed was the amount of bodies thrown around the forest. And not all of them were intact.

I screwed my eyes shut and breathed out deeply, trying to calm my racing heart. I picked my aching body up out of the small crater I was in and climbed out, careful not to breathe too quickly. By the shape of the crater, I must have activated a force field around my body before I hit the ground, though what happened before I woke up was a little foggy. As soon as I was up on the ground, I looked around for the plane. I couldn't see it, but following the fire burning near my hole, it was somewhere off to the west. My answer was confirmed as the fire reached the fuel and I was blown back across the forest, smacking into the bark of a thick tree. The sound alone causes my hearing to lessen to a small ringing, disorienting me.

Giving into my tired and beaten body, my vision faded to black just as I sensed movement to my right.

"-do we have here?!"

"Your package, delivered just as you asked. My money?"

There was a harsh sound, like skin on skin.

"I said, unharmed. Why does she look like she fought a brick wall and lost?"

"Fuck you, Far-gone-" A female voice. It sounded awfully like the black haired woman. "She's here, isn't she?"

"Here."

"Wha- this is only 500 grand, Fargon. Where's the rest of the money I took this bitch for? She almost killed me, and she ruined my entire airplane!"

"It's not my fault you can't handle one girl. You'll get the rest in a week."

I lay still, taking in my surroundings, besides these two voices, I don't hear anything else. The room feels damp, which is a comfort because of my overheated skin. I feel as though I was baked in an oven.

The room, however, is also dark and cold, which I know because I opened my eyes when the man hit her. They hadn't noticed me yet, and I can't exactly make out his features because of his back to me. I close my eyes again as I notice their attention shifting back towards me.

"That's bullshit and you know it. I want the rest, now. Or I'll shoot the bitch dead." She growled, pulling her gun out.

"Calm your tits," The man spits, a cruel smile in his voice. "You can complain to the council. They're the ones paying ya'!"

"Take me to them. And keep your damn hands to yourself, or I'll cut them off." She said as he reached for her. They left together, shutting a heavy looking door tight. I jump up as soon as it's closed and look around. The walls are made of hard packed dirt, and so is the floor and the ceiling. There is nothing on the walls, no grooves, no other door but the one they walked out of. There isn't even a bed, as they dumped me on the floor. The entire room is bare, save for a moldy lump of bread and an almost empty tin of water.

I spend the next couple of hours feeling for my powers, only to realize that there is basically nothing left. I really begin to feel my body panic and I back myself into the wall. I feel my defenses lower and it is that night in the dark, dirt room that I let myself cry.

But I promised, I swore on behalf of the Moon Goddess that it would be the last time.
