Yay! Enjoy this, I know it's been a long time coming, but hopefully you guys still remember what happened in chapter 22. If not, that's great! Reread it and vote and comment! It means a lot, and if you guys aren't commenting, I don't feel all too motivated. :( But Alas, a new chapter! :). Again, enjoy!

Rhylan's POV

Six days. It's been six fucking days. Six days of running around. Six days of talking to Alphas around the damn globe. Six days of people in my face, voices in my head. Six days without Amaris.

I'm going crazy, I know I am. I hear her voice, see her face everywhere. And when I manage to forget, to think about something else, my wolf is right there to remind me again. It's been six days, a very short time, and yet an eternity. I would never be able to describe the feeling, that all consuming, life draining feeling of having your soul complete in the way that your creator intended, only to have that stolen from you. And not in one clean sweep, but harshly, with jagged edges that tear into my heart. I guess this is what heart break feels like, expect this is more. Because Amaris is somewhere in this world, with disgusting rogues who have no good intention in mind. I have no way of knowing if she's hurt, or beaten, or if they touched her, because I don't know where the fuck she is.

"Rhylan?" I hear, followed by a faint knock.

"Come in," I whisper, because my throat is soar of screaming. It's the only way I can clear my head at the moment, to scream so loudly into the forest that I'm sure everyone can hear.

My Mom peaks inside and takes a seat when I wave my hand. "What do you have to report?" I ask.

"There are five families that need rehousing at the moment. I've assigned them rooms in the pack house, but things are very tight. The Rodgers had to room with the James'. The food supply is running low, and so is the clothes supply. We had to take the boxes of clothes in the woods out in order to clothe the families whose things burned. The wolves are also worried about sending their kids to school. On top of that, the hospital still hasn't been cleared and those doctors need their equipment. Now, I know you're worried about Amaris, as am I, but there's no way you can bring all those Alphas here to help her with the pack like this."

"Mom," Is all I can say, and then I'm sobbing again.

"Oh, come now honey." She says, dragging her chair over to sit next to me. I chuckle a bit and let her wrap her arms around me. "I'm here to help you as much as I can. You also have dozens of wolves out there who are able and willing to work, so put them to it! Now, take a deep breath and let's take this one at a time."

I sigh deeply, running my fingers through my hair. Okay, one at a time. I can handle that. "Okay, okay. Let's start with the hospital."

"There's my girl!" She shakes my shoulders. I swat her away with a smile, and pull out some paper and a pen.

"Quiet, please!" I call out into the microphone. The sun is high in the sky, blinding my eyes. I look down instead, towards the trees that surround the courtyard. I'm the north, towards the hospital. A path is carved out of the ground, winding around the trees and marked with large, flat and smooth stones. I look away, but something moving causes my eyes to flit back.

Amaris?

No.

But- there, I see her. Glowing in the sun, unharmed, more beautiful than ever. Her long white hair bounces on the breeze, and she turns away from me with a wink. She skips playfully towards the forest and I open my mouth to yell, to tell her to come back, but I blink and she is gone. Nothing left behind but a whisper of my name carried away on the wind.
