Artemis thinks I am a crazy driver. She is probably right. The second we were on the road, we were going 100 miles an hour. When I had to make a sharp turn to get on the freeway, I drifted. I almost hit a fire hydrant doing that. When we got on the freeway I was going even faster. I was weaving through traffic. I could hear Artemis screaming as we almost hit a car. Which was every second. She got so scared she just shut her eyes and didn't look. During this time I drifted off to my memorys. Not like where I wasnt paying attention to the road but where I was thinking.

I member the first time I drove a car. It was me and my teacher for drivers ed and Emma. We were going through the course and I barely put my foot to the pedal and the car shot forward. I was weaving through the track at 45 miles an hour. I didn’t hit a single cone. My teacher was screaming “Slow down!” over and over, while Emma just laughed. When I got out I got an A and my teacher said I was a natural. Emma just smiled and gave me a thumbs up. Emma. I missed her. She had disappeared about two months ago. I figured she had moved and didn’t say bye.

“Michael, how much farther?” said Artemis ruining my train of thought.

“About ten minutes maybe thirty.”

“Okay, hey how is your chest?”

“Peachy.”

“Thats good.”

“Yep.”

“Michael?’

“Yeah.”

“Have you had a girlfriend before?” asked Artemis. That question hit a soft spot. Do I tell her the truth and open closed wounds or lie and have Artemis not trust me as much. (You can tell when I lie because I am horrible at it.)

“Yeah.” I told the truth

“What was her name?”

“Emma.”

“What happened?”

“She vanished, no goodbye , no warning, just........ Gone.”

“Oh I am sorry.”

“It is fine.”

‘I shouldn’t of asked.”

“I said it is fine.” Now having flashbacks of Emma. I remember our first date.  It was a cheap date to taco bell. We told jokes to each other and talked about baseball. She was a Giants fan. I was a Yankees. So we usually argued about which was better.

“Michael! Look out!” Screamed Artemis

I notice I was heading into opposite traffic. I turn the wheel hard and we are back in the right lane.

“Sorry I was having a flashback.”

“I see. Well be careful, you don’t have those when we get to the coffin.” she said winking to me

“Don’t worry about that.”

“Michael, you know that we could never go out.”

“I know that. We are just friends. Why bring it up?’

“I don’t know. But it is not just that. I do not date. That is why I picked the name Artemis. The myth of Artemis is that she never dated.”

“I know the story.” I said gravely

“Hey how about you tell me your battle strategy.”

“You and the troop, if they show up will attack , like during the games. I am going to find Kevin and kill him.”

“That doesn’t sound very planned.”

“That is because it isn’t.”

“Okay”

“Looks like we are in Death valley now.” I said. I knew we were in death valley because there was a sign.

“So where is the coffin.” said Artemis

“I do not know. Hey there is a gas station, lets ask.”

“No one will know.”

“Lets see.” I pulled over the car and saw a man sitting on the ground indian style. He was white, with a straw hat over his face. He had a long peice of grace coming out of his mouth.

“Can I help you?” he said in an old person voice

“Yeah do you know, which way Abaddon’s coffin is?”

“Down the road and turn left when you see a rock with a cactus on top of it. The area should have fire shooting out of cracks.”

“Thanks.” I then walked back  to the car.

“So did he tell you?”

“Yep.” Then we started driving.

“He actually knew.” said Artemis shocked.

“Yes he did.” Then I saw the cactus and rock and turned left and I stopped. We were there. There was no life at all. Fire spewing out of the cracks. An army of locust and teenage boys were standing in a line, waiting for an enemy.

“We need to scout ahead and find the coffin.” I said

“Okay but lets hurry.” We snuck around the army by hiding behind a wall of rocks. After about five minutes of walk, we saw the coffin. It was black and had chains wrapped around it and a giant lock on it. There was Kevin holding the key walking towards the lock. That is when all hell broke loose.

There was a loud yell and I turned back and saw two armies fighting.
