The ending to peace.

Chapter 21

Chapter 1:

“Emma?” I said.

“Who else would it be dork?” Emma said.

Before she had time to react I was running towards her, when my arms were in reach of her, I was hugging her. “I have missed you.” I said

“I missed you too.” she said

Then I heard a very quiet sigh behind me. Artemis. I forgot about her. “Emma, this is Artemis. Artemis,Emma.” I introduced

“Hi.” said Artemis with no emotion.

“Hey” said Emma the same way

There was a silence, I broke when I said “ What happened to you Emma?”

“ That is a very long story Michael.” Emma said

“I have time.” I said

“Well it started the day after our date. I came home from church and my parents didn’t remember me. They acted like I was a stranger. When I gave up trying to tell them I was their kid, I snuck it to my room at night and packed up some clothes and took my secret stash of money and tried to go to a friends. But when I got there they didn’t know who I was either. So I left.” 

“That makes sense. if you have a family and friends that are mortal, they will forget you.” said Artemis.

“I see. Anyway that is why I didn’t say bye Michael. When I got on a bus to Visalia, Ca,  I encountered my first monsters. They were hideous. They rammed the bus and it fell on it’s side. The people on it thought it was a car, which I guess is because of the veil. I got out of the bus, so I wouldn’t be trapped. But that was a mistake. The four monsters were ugly. I don’t want to describe them cause I still have nightmares about them. Anyways, a would have died if it weren’t for a lady. She walked to me and the beast and fire came out of her hands. She scared them away and took me to her house.  Her name was Maggie. She told me about angels, their children, and a lot of other stuff.  I stayed at her house for a while then she gave me a pair of gloves and told me it was time for me to leave. I asked her what the gloves were for and she told me to command by thought, for the gloves to ready. I thought she was crazy, but I did it and they turned to metal and two blades stuck out.” Then she showed us the weapons. “So from their I left and tried to survive as long as I could. I was attacked a few times by some of Abaddon’s Locust. Luckily the gloves were pretty easy to use. Then today I met some guy at a bus stop. He said my name and said he knew who I was. He said there would be no more running and you would be there and you would remember me. I was willing to go no matter what. Then he told me he was your dad, and grabbed my hand and I appeared here and watched the funeral. Now you are caught up. What happened to you?” said Emma

“Well, my mom was killed by Kevin for starters.”

“Oh my Gandhi. I am so sorry. Kevin did it?” she said with true sympathy.

“Yeah he did, anyhow, I went on a adventure to stop Kevin from unleashing Abaddon and I failed so now I have to collect two objects to kill him. Then I learned I was the child of the most powerful angel, Michael.” I said

“He is Michael jr.” said Artemis chuckling

I gave her a glare and said “never call me that.”

“Michael, we will stop him. Don’t worry about it.” said Emma then she grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes.

Artemis started to cry and ran off into the woods. “I gotta go after her.” I said to Emma and ran after her. I followed Artemis far into the woods before she stopped. She was crying a lot. “What is wrong?” I asked

“Nothing, it just.....nothing.”

“Is it Emma.” She was very quiet. “It is her.”

“So what!”

“Artemis. You were the one who didn’t want us to go out. You are the one who said it wouldn’t work.”

“I know what I said. I just wish we could.”

“I wish we could too. But you need to let go of your past. You need to be less independent. I have things I need to change too.”

“I know that MIchael. I just never thought she would be here.”

“I didn’t either. It was unexpected. I don’t even know if I feel the same way.”

“Okay.”

“Come one lets go back. We have war games tomorrow and dinner tonight.”

“Okay” she said

“Are you going to be okay?” I asked

“Yeah. I think so.”

“Thats good.’ Then we walked back to Emma. She was just standing there waiting for us. 

“Hey when is dinner?” she asked

“Right now” I said with a fake smile. I really felt confused. Who did I like? I don’t know how I felt about Emma and Artemis. I didn’t know how I felt. I just put on a smile and just went with the flow, for now.

We walked to the cafeteria, and everyone was eating. I told Emma how to order your food. I ate a taco or two, Artemis had clam chowder, and Emma had a little of every food imaginable.

“Wow, you were hungry hugh.” I said teasingly to Emma.

“This is the first time since Maggie’s house I have eaten more than one plate of food.” she said.

“Ladies and gentlemen.” I heard Rick say

I knew what was coming next and I smiled. Emma was about to be the focus of everyone for a few minutes and Emma hates that.

“We have a new member. Her name is Emma. Be nice, she is a member of cabin 8. Goodnight.” said Rick then he left to his building wherever that is.

Emma seemed pretty calm about it, that was not like her. “Lets go outside.” Emma said. We walked outside. Just then Brittany walked by.

“Hey noob.” Brittany said to Emma

Before Emma could say a comeback, I said “Layoff Brittany. She is my friend.”

“Okay. If you hang out with Michael you must be tough. Glad you're on our cabin side.” said Brittany and then she stuck out her tongue at me. Then the two walked off and I was by myself. Not even a bye. I walked back in and sat next to Artemis.

“Hey.” I said

“Hey” Artemis replied

“Are you gonna have desert?”

“Yeah. You?” 

“Yeah.” I said. Then we both ordered ice cream. Same flavor and all. We looked at each other, then the food. We smiled and ate.

A few minutes later we left and went to sleep. For the second time I had weird dreams. This time I saw the amazon. There were four shadows that kept passing by. Emma was standing in the middle, with her weapons ready. Then Kevin walked over and started to laugh. Then a shadow leaped out and I woke up panting and sweating. It was dawn, time to get ready for the games.
