Chapter Twenty- Four

A smile forms on my face. I look at Marlene, and with the moon glowing I can see the looks of excitement and happiness written all over her. She comes closer to me and grabs the flag so that we're both waving it. James is banging on the wall of the building in anger. He's muttering swear words.

"Woo- Hoo! Marlene, Tris, you did it! Yes!" Uriah cries, coming out to the platform. He puts his arm around Marlene just as Chris runs over to me.

"You did it guys!" She cries.

"Aww, thanks! You guys did great too!" Marlene replies cheerfully. For someone in Dauntless, she sounds like she's on the Amity peace serum. But truthfully, she been nice to me, so I guess who cares? In some sort of un-spoken agreement we all head for the stairs. We go down them in silence, but once we're outside again, the silence is broken by the cheers or the arguing of the Dauntless. Uri, Mar, and Chris all jog of, but I head in the opposite direction, feeling hungry for Four. I don't know why though. But, I mean, we said I love you. Is that... big? In Abnegation we couldn't show affection. So I never really learned what shows how you feel about someone or not. I decide if things go... further with Four and me, then I'll ask Christina. Candor must show affection. But I don't even know. We were just having a good moment. It's nothing. Nothing is going to happen between Four and me. He's just my instructor. My gorgeous instructor, whose pair of dreamy blue eyes are staring back at me right now.
