Chapter Twenty- Seven

We all turn in unison nervously to see Zeke stomping angrily to us. I am very nervous. Zeke is strong, and honestly, he probably could kill Uri. He loves his brother, but he loves Shauna more, and obviously someone told Shauna something about him. Uriah cringes.

"Zeke! No! Stop! No! Whatever it was I didn't do anything!" Uri shouts defensively.

"Uriah!" Zeke yells and leaves it with that. He then lunges at Uriah, who springs to his feet. He ducks right as Zeke swings his fist.

"Zeke!" Uriah whimpers. He seems so small and helpless, and I've never looked at him that way before. Zeke and Uriah are both total Dauntless, very tough. But they really love each other. I don't think they ever fight. But Zeke and Shauna... they're always together. They truly love each other; you can always tell just by the way Shauna will gaze into Zeke's eyes, and Zeke would dip her back giving her a warm kiss.

"Uriah... I'm... I'm sorry. I..." Zeke chokes out his words, I guess seeing a different way, in a way that opens his eyes for him to see how scared Uriah looks.

"No, Zeke... It's okay. But what... what happened?" He asks. Zeke hangs his head, I guess remembering what happened to him.

"Shauna," Zeke whispers.

"Yeah. Mar," Uriah replies.

"Shauna came in to my apartment in tears. She said she we were... ov... over. She said that I've been flirting with Mar!" Zeke whispers. I really didn't think Zeke ever broke down. I thought he was like... made of stone or something. But Shauna gave Zeke the sparkle in his eyes he always has, the happy energy that always shines through him.

"Zeke. I'm sorry." Lame, I know, but I'm as lost for words as he is. Zeke nods his head as a thank you.

"And Uriah. Marlene will believe you if you try to explain! Come on. She didn't give you a chance right now. She loves you. You have a spot in her that can't go away. She'll listen," I continue.

"I just love her do much. I'd do anything for her," Uri replies.

" We know you would bro. And Tris is right." Uriah smiles at Zeke graciously.

"But Zeke, I don't get it. Why were you mad at me?" Uriah asks. Zeke looks embarrassed.

"Um, on my way to the Pit someone stopped me and told me that you had been flirting with Shauna," He answers.

"Who?" Uriah demands.

"I don't know. They were wearing a mask," Zeke replies.

"Why would-" Chris begins, but she's cut off.

"Maybe so they could get away with this," a voice says. Not a second later, I hear a gunshot, and Uriah crumples to the ground, his eyes closing.

"Tell Mar I love her," Uriah mumbles as he falls to the ground. I can't help but wonder if those will be his last words. I think that right as the tears begin to stream out.
