"Uriah!" Zeke screams. He runs to his brother's side and kneels down, examining where he was shot. Christina and I whirl around to see who shot Uriah so we can, ya know, kill whoever did it! But we are faced with no one. Whoever did it might get away with it. That thought makes me sick. I push it out of my head and tell myself that we'll catch whoever shot Uriah. Because honestly, that seems very important right now. But not more important than being with Uriah, so I turn around and hunch over and check out Uriah, and Chris does the same.
"We need to go to the infirmary. Now!" Zeke cries. Chris and I nod in agreement and we all start sprinting to out destination. We get there in what seems really quick, but once we get there Zeke says something I don't like:
"He lost too much blood. I... I don't... don't think he'll... ma...make it," Zeke chokes out. I hang my head. Christina tries to cheer us up, but I can see through her words. She is crushed too. Her hope is being pushed down too. Were sitting down in the waiting room by now, anxiously waiting to be able to hear news about Uriah. I glance at the clock. Only four minutes have passed since we say down. I lean back and close my eyes and say a silent prayer.
God, please help Uriah. We all love him so much. Please, please, please get him through this. I know you can do that. Please help him to make it.
I am so nervous. The shot was in his stomach, so it really could go either way with that. I just hope it goes the way where he makes it. I look at Zeke who is literally balling. Yes, Zeke. Tough, non- emotional Zeke. I sigh. They need each other. If Uriah doesn't make it, there will always be an empty space in all of us. None of us will laugh as much, because seriously, most of my laughter comes Uriah. There are so many wonderful things about him that can't be replaced. I burry my face in my hands and run my hand through my hair. Suddenly, the doors to the entrance of the infirmary burst open. We all look to see Marlene. Her eyes are red and puffy, and no fought she's been crying. I stand up and run to meet her.
"U... Uri... Uriah! I nee...need him! I love h...him!" She says through her tears.
"I never mea...meant any...any of it! I love him!" She continues. I think she had more to say, but suddenly a doctor comes out.
"I have news on Uriah," He tells us. We all look at him hopefully, but the look on his face really worries me.
