~2 weeks after the governor attacked the prison~

Kayla's POV

I've been on the road for awhile and honestly I just wish I can find the group. I been moving around finding different abandon homes staying in them but not for too long. As much as I want to I don't think much of the group I can't bare to think about them... All I'm worried about is survival and how to survive being only 17 in this infested world. I walked into the woods walking until I seen a home I can sleep in for the night, 2 hours passed and I came across a small cabin. I pulled my knife out banging on the door 3 times. No walkers came to the door I sighed in relief walking into the small cabin. I looked around checking the two rooms once again nothing, I pushed the couch in front of the front door and a chair under the knob on the back door.

"It will do for now." I said to myself sitting at the kitchen table. I grabbed my bag throwing it on the small brown table, pulling out a can of peaches. I used my knife to open the canned food and ate quickly. I then pulled out Carl's hoodie he threw in my bad before the prison attack I held in against my chest. I really hope he is still alive and we see each other soon.

I left my bag on the table with his hoodie still in my hands walking to the bedroom, I laid across the bed thinking when will I ever see him again or is he still alive. I rolled over hugging the hoodie close to me then drifting off to sleep.

~Morning Time~

The sun filled the small bedroom as it shined directly on my face. I yawned stretching my arms then jumping out the bed. I walked over to the window to see if there were any walkers outside but I only seen 2 so far. I backed away from the window, going to the kitchen, and opening my bag pulling out an apple. I finished my apple in less that 5 minutes throwing the core somewhere. I packed my things back along with Carl's hoodie throwing the bag on my back. I never stay in one place more than a night because no matter where you are the walkers will find you. I removed the chair from underneath the back door knob quickly making an exit into the woods. As I was running I ran into something hard knocking me down, I looked up seeing it was walker. I pulled out my knife standing up on my feet then stabbing the walker between the eyes. I huffed dusting the dirt off my clothes walking towards the road, I walked and walked until I couldn't anymore. I sat on the side of the road not caring if any walkers were around, using my finger I traced the letters J.S.S into the dirt.

"Just Survive Somehow." I whispered to myself.

Carl's POV

"You okay dad?" I asked him as we walked the train the tracks.

"Yes, no need to worry Carl." He smiled.

During the prison attack we all got separated, me and my dad escaped. That day my dad was seriously injured and slipped into a coma for a day. I thought I could survive without him I guess not. We camped out in this house for some days then Michonne showed up. We had to leave due to another group coming in there while me and Michonne were out collecting supplies. We've been following the railroad tracks for a while going to this place called 'Terminus' I was a little skeptical about it but my dad thinks the rest of our group would go there to see if everybody went.

"Do you really think they are all there?" I asked my dad eating some stale candy.

"I hope so." My dad said looking straight forward.

"But what if they aren't?" I asked again.

"They will I have a feeling that they are." My dad said turning around at me.

"I miss Judith, Kayla, Glenn, and the others. Especially Kayla." I sighed kicking some rocks as I walked.

"Maybe she's there Carl, she's a smart girl she might have found the others in the group." He reassured.

"Hope so." I softly said fixing my bag on my shoulder.

"If she isn't she knows how to survive... just survive somehow." Michonne said comforting me.
