"I'm not playing your stupid game." I reply bitterly, scowling as he draws closer.
"You," He points to me. "Have no choice whether or whether not you want to."
I glare at him, refusing to play his stupid damn game. "I can refuse." I say, drawing my arms over my chest.
Kaleb only smirks at my remark, and sets the cards silently on the bedside table. The way he didn't meet my eyes when he turned towards me made a shiver pass through my spine.
"Oh, really?" I try to look away from him but am attracted back to his gaze at his alluring voice.
"Say it again, I don't think I caught it."
My skin tingles in warning when Kaleb steps even closer, almost to the point of touching me. I swallow hard, and slowly look up into his dark blue eyes.
"I refuse." I growl, almost spitting it at him.
Kaleb smirks and suddenly grabs my arm and yanks on it hard, making me yelp in pain as I'm pulled to my feet. His intense gaze makes me cower below him, and I suddenly feel myself switch from aggressive to passive.
"Hazel," He purrs in my ear, and I flinch at his closeness. I feel a hand cascade down my back, and I try to shove myself away from him but he locks me in place in almost an instance. "You wanted to refuse when I told you no, so you deserve punishment."
I feel my heart rate accelerate and I stiffen against him, my breath hitched.
"I'm going to add one more thing to our game," He murmurs so close to my ear, tingles shoot up my neck. Breathing hard, I wait for him to continue so he can let me out of this painful grip he has on me. "Every time you pick a card and I ask you a question and you don't answer it correctly, you have a consequence. I was going to be nice to you and just let you decide your consequence, but I don't think you deserve it."
I swallow the lump in my throat. "What's the consequence?" I whisper.
"That's for me to know," He says, starting to lean back to stare at me with his electric-blue eyes. "And you to find out."
Shoving me away aggressively, I fall back into the bed in a heap. I shift back up using my arms and sit up, trying to act unfazed by what he did.
"Now," Kaleb growls, drawing my attention back to him. "Pick a card."
I slowly draw my hand up to his and pull one out, refusing to move my gaze from his. He smiles at my choice and puts the rest of the cards by his side.
"Now look at it." He says, stepping back a few steps.
I shift my gaze away from his and look down at the wrinkled card in my hand. Rubbing my thumb over the rough texture, I had pulled out a Queen of Hearts.
"I'm going to guess the card you have, if I get it right, you have to answer a question of mine." Kaleb says. "If I don't guess it correctly, then it's a pass."
"What if I want to ask a question?" I say, sitting up a little more. Kaleb smiles at my response and almost looks surprised.
"For your curiosity, I'll allow you to ask a question." Kaleb says. "But you probably won't get to, because I'm going to guess your card every time."
