I slept after the turmoil, to get away from it. I slept through the guilt and pain, because I was horrified of what I might have to face.

Who I'd have to face.

My limbs felt light and relaxed as they carried me in an unknown direction. I was warm and content except for the fact that I couldn't control where I was going.

Only, I felt like I didn't need to worry, like I didn't have to. The wind seemed to carry me in a soothing pattern as it brushed against my arms and lifted my hair. I felt safe, at least for the moment

The whiteness around me started to crumble and crack as darkness started to pool in, filling the areas that broke apart. It spilled around my feet and the darkness sloshed and churned against my ankles like thick soup.

I stepped back in horror and screamed when my back touched something warm. Turning around, I'm met with a pair of dark, haunting blue eyes. Kaleb stood in front of me, his daunting gaze burning into mine and making me completely forget about the darkness that shifted around my feet.

The background warped behind me, changing with each passing second. The ground rumbled with the change, until everything stopped, and a ringing in my ears told me it was dead silent.

Kaleb continued to stare at me as the silence layered around us, making me feel heavy and strange. Behind Kaleb, everything vanished into black until he was the only thing in front of me.

"Hazel." Kaleb says, taking my wrists in his hands.

Suddenly my skin turns cold as desperation fills his eyes. He opens his mouth again but the words I hear don't come from him.

"I love you." They come from far off, behind me. I whip around, forgetting about Kaleb for a moment as November stands in front of me now.

"Hazel, I love you." He whispers again, louder this time-- closer. I exhale a shaky breath and walk forward, tears brewing in my eyes.

"Nov--" Suddenly his eyes turn darker, and his silky blonde hair turns into a dark brown color that emphasizes his now different face.

Kaleb.

"Come, Hazel." He beckons, drawing a hand out from his side. It was an invitation, and I refused to take it.

"No. You're not November." I draw, my words shaky. "You can't keep doing this--"

November is in front of me again, his eyes returned to the color I was used to, what I know. I reach out and grab his arm to steady myself.

"November, we need to get away." I say, louder than what I expected. November gives me a confused look and suddenly smiles.

"Hazel, we're safe. Relax." He takes both my hands in his warm ones, unlike Kaleb's cool ones, and lures me closer to him.

"It's just us." He murmurs, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. "Only us."

I take a sharp breath and start to nod when my lips are captured by his. It was rushed and aggressive, and I instinctively pull back only to be sent crashing into a wall.
