A Promise Is A Promise

(A/N) OMG GUYS I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING SOONER!!! I had literally most of the chapter written out like 2 days ago and just had the last paragraph left but then the entire thing didn't save! So then when I was going to publish the chapter the day before, literally EVERYTHING WAS DELETED!!! SO I HAD TO REWRITE EVERYTHING AGAIN!!! Also this chapter isn't as long as I did it before due to the fact that I forgot what I wrote. UGH I'M SO ANNOYING WITH MY PHONE!!! Finally I got time to REWRITE the ENTIRE chapter so here is the first chapter! Once again I'm so sorry it took so long but the first chapter is finally here! HAPPY READING!

Sophie's P.O.V.

It was the middle of the night when I awoke. I turned to see my loving husband Fitz next to me in a blissful sleep. Seeing him wanted to make me snuggle closer to him. I smiled and snuggled closer to his chest and tried to sleep again. An arm wrapped around me making me wonder it he was actually asleep. But all I did was smile. After another few minutes, I decided to get up. Even after defeating the Neverseen 8 years ago, I still occasionally wasn't able to sleep even when I was happy. Everything in my life was going right after the Neverseen was gone. I was no longer unmatchable, my reputation became MUCH better, all our best friends became even closer, I even became way less clumsy and started liking dresses, makeup, and even heels! But the best of all was that I got to marry my cognate, BFF, and crush every since I came to the lost cities, Fitz. I looked up to see him smiling without any care in the world. I smiled once again, kissed him on his lips and wiggled out of his grasp. I took the escalators (yes we had an escalator) downstairs and into my personal office. Our house had 6 floors in total, with a private beach, garden, and lake outside. In total, our humongous house was even bigger than Everglen. But anyways, after I graduated from Foxfire, half the council wanted me to teach due to my very high scores in my performance at Foxfire while the other half wanted me to be a keeper due to my impenetrable mind. So I ended up doing both. 2 jobs was pretty hard, but worth it. I just started to create lesson plans for when school starts again (midterm break was going on) when I heard the doorbell ring. I fled down the stairs and opened the door to find the entire council standing there.

"Greetings Councillors. What brings you to our estate in the middle of the night?" I said as I dipped into a graceful curtsy (like I said, not clumsy anymore).

"What's wrong honey? Who's at the door?" Fitz said as he yawned and came down the stairs.

"The council." I responded as he came back behind me. He quickly looked up to see the entire council staring at him. He quickly bowed, tripping in the process, as he changed his tone.

"What can we do for you?" He said after I caught him from face planting on the floor. I know its sounded absurd, but the council seemed somewhat lifeless to me. As if the were sleep walking but were very much awake.

"Say your good byes." Councillor Alina flatly and quite rudely stated. Even Alina wasn't that rude.

"WAIT WHAT?!" Fitz and I shouted at the same time. Did they mean what she thought they meant?

"You heard us. Say your good byes. You guys will no longer be able to see each other. Sophie, your going to be our maiden and do all our work. You will get tortured once a week. If you mention anything about Fitz or you try to do anything smart, you will be punished. Fitz you will be the opposite of Sophie. You will be locked in a tower but we well fed. You will live in a gigantic room and you will be well entertained. But you'll be locked in there your entire life. Neither of you will ever be able to see each other again." Bronte stated even ruder than Alina did. 

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO US?!" I shouted. I thought that we were on the councils good side. And even if we weren't, were they really this evil?

"It's quite simple Sophie. When you were younger, we promised you that we would find a way to destroy your life. You may have beaten our organization but you didn't destroy us, and that was you biggest mistake. We kept growing and growing, getting more and more power on the way, until we reached the point where we were more powerful than ever. So we can make your lives worse than ever and to keep our promise that we made all those years ago. And what better way to keep it to take away what you love most: Fitz." Emery said with a smirk on his face that only evil could muster. That's when I realized it. The Council was being controlled by the Neverseen. And this was their way of keeping their promise that they made me all those years ago. Realizing this, I couldn't take it anymore. I sunk to my knees as tears rolled down my cheeks. Tears slowly became cries. Cries slowly became sobs. Sobs slowly became hiccups. While this was all happening, Fitz wrapped his arms around me as I sunk into his arms, now crying as I let all the tears soak his tunic. I could feel him put his head on mine as he my hair got damp. But I didn't care. Because I still got to hold Fitz, I still could smell his cologne, I could feel his arms around me. And I didn't want it to end. Because I still had him in my grasp. Before I loose it all.
