Newt would like to think he was good under pressure, but he knew that he would be wrong.

As soon as the flames appeared, _____ screamed and jumped back. "What was that?" She screamed, and the flames came again. Newt knew what they were right away, there was only one thing he could think of that would cause that specific kind of fire in a shape like that: magic.

Newt was never good under pressure like this, and his first instinct usually wasn't a good one. However, in this case, it was all he had. He muttered, "Sorry _____," under his breath as he reached for his wand and pointed it at her, whispering, "Stupefy." Before she could know what hit her, she was out cold, and Newt caught her before she hit the ground. However, there wasn't much time to recover or get her out of there, because the next second there was a wizard turning the corner, pointing their wand at Newt.

Newt placed ______ against the wall behind him, standing in front of her to shield her from whoever this is. He drew his wand quickly and pointed it at the wizard, asking, "Who are you?"

The wizard completely ignored the question and looked Newt dead in the eye. "Hand over ______. I'll take her off your hands, you won't have to worry about her any longer."

This wizard knows her? Newt wondered, and then shook the thought from his head. he could worry about that later, he needed to focus on the situation at hand. He didn't trust the wizard, there was no way Newt was just going to hand her over to him. "Why should I? How do you know her?"

"It's nothing personal. I was hired to find her and bring her back to someone else, they're very... worried about her."

Newt shook his head, edging closer to ______. "I don't believe you at all. Who hired you? Who told her to rob me?"

The wizard looked shocked. "You're the wizard with the case that he wants..." they trailed off. They shook his head. "What, so you decide to kidnap the woman who tried getting it from you? You're the creep here, not me. Hand her over."

Newt was more confused than ever now, and the fact that even this wizard knew that she was trying to steal his case put him on edge. "You're not getting her. I didn't take her, and I don't have to explain myself to you."

The other wizard sighed. "Guess I'm just going to have to do things the hard way. If you won't give her back to me, I have to just make sure she won't talk," the wizard turned their wand to ______. "Serpensortia!"

A snake came out of the edge of the wand, right towards ______. Newt moved as fast as he could, getting her out of the way and trying to hold both her and his wand at the same time. Despite what Newt looked like, he was fairly strong, but it was definitely getting difficult to hold her and his wand at the same time. As he held her bridal style, he kept his wand pointed at the other wizard. Newt held her close and moved the other direction, keeping eye contact with the other wizard.

The other wizard shook his head. "Give in, Newt," they used his name and laughed. "He wanted her in one piece, but I don't think he'll oppose to me just getting rid of the problem entirely." They pointed their wand at her sleeping form and began a spell. "Obli-"

Newt panicked, saying the first spell that came to mind. "Expelliarmus!" he shouted, and the other wizard was too shocked to block the spell. While they were stunned, Newt continued. "Stupefy!"

The wizard fell to the ground and Newt looked at _______. What's your story? What are you involved in?

He looked out the alley, glad that their fight hadn't attracted any attention to them. He looked back at ______. There was no way he could walk back the apartment like this, he definitely looks like he's up to something. He was worried that she would wake up and get sick if he apparated, but his options were looking slim.

He looked at her. She really was stunning, and she flustered him, just holding her. "I'm sorry that you're dragged into this," he whispered. Based on the way they were going to treat her, willing to just erase her memories and move on, he was worried. Obviously, someone had power over her. But who was this wizard who wanted his case so desperately. Who was she, really?

She stirred in his arms. She'd be waking up soon, and he didn't want her to wake up in this alley. He held her close and hoped for the best, apparating back to the Goldstein's apartment.
