Newt stood there for a moment, wand still pointed, complete shock apparent on his face. His case was now in front of him, but so was the knocked out body of the woman who had just tried to steal it. He didn't know how to react at first, so he stood there like a statue.
Then his panic set in.
He put his wand back in his trench coat pocket, kneeling down and prying his case away from the woman's hand before examining her. He could tell just by looking her nose had taken a large blow, it looked broken, and blood was starting to come out of it. "That doesn't look good at all..." Newt muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair.
The way he saw it, he had two options. The first one was to take his case and be on his way, leaving this mystery woman in the alleyway knocked out and with a broken nose. I mean, she did try to steal his case. She kind of deserved it. Why should he feel bad for her when she just tried to take his most precious possession?
The other one was to wake her up or wait until she wakes up and apologize for getting her into this mess. While he might be able to use a quick healing spell for her nose, the blows she took to her head probably wouldn't be healed as easy, and he could tell it wasn't going to be good.
He was going to have to pick one of these options, as messy as the situation was.
And he wasn't about to leave some poor woman knocked out in an alleyway in New York where anything could (and probably would) happen.
Newt sighed. This could only happen to me, he thought, shaking his head. How was it he always managed to get himself in trouble? Was he like a magnet to unfortunate events, or did he subconsciously look for these situations?
Well, whatever it was, it needed to stop.
I can't believe I'm helping the woman who tried to rob me, Newt thought, shaking his head. He pulled his wand out of his coat, pointing it at the woman's nose. "Episkey," he whispered, hoping for the best. To be honest, he wasn't exactly the best when it came to healing spells, so he didn't use them too often. Usually medicine and a bandage where good enough for him, but that was usually for a creature bite or other injuries caused by a beast. This wasn't the doings of any beast, this was him being reckless with magic.
Well, kind of. It wasn't his fault she didn't know to dodge.
After sitting there for what must've been at least half an hour, Newt was surprised when he heard a groan coming from the general direction of the woman. As he looked over at her, he leaned over her, examining her face. Before she even opened her eyes, a hand reached for her head, rubbing it in pain. Then, her eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she did was make eye contact with Newt. Newt couldn't help but stare into her eyes for a moment, caught up in her gaze. Her eye's were slightly glossed over and shining, and they stared at him with confusion. Wow, he thought for a moment. This woman has beautiful eyes.
And then that moment ended, and reality came back into play.
The woman let out a small scream and shoved him off of her, scooting away. Not only her head, but her whole body hurt, as if she was a ball who had just been hit repeatedly against a paddle. While the pain in her head was the worst, it was hard to ignore the pain all over her body, and a strange, dull feeling on her face. She looked at the man who had been hovering over her, her eyes wide. "Who the hell are you and what am I doing here?" she asked in a panicked voice, fear clear in her voice.
Now it was Newt's turn to be confused. He understood her not knowing who he was, but did she really expect him to answer what she was doing there? He didn't really know, he was just chasing her here trying to get his case back. How was he supposed to know what she was doing there?
