In a small house on the edge of Staten Island, a man stood and waited for his private detective to show up. He promised he was the best, and the wizard intended to find out if that was true. It had been days since ______ was supposed to be back from Manhattan, he should've known it was a mistake to let her go alone. He didn't think she'd try to run away again.

Not after what happened last time.

He heard a noise and knew that the private detective had just apparated back, he had been expecting him all morning. Without bothering to turn around, he asked, "Did you find her?"

"Yes," the detective smiled. "Saw her yesterday at a café in Battery Park, the one you told me was her favorite. She was with someone."

He turned around, looking at the man with a mix of surprise and anger. "Who?"

"Have you ever heard of Newton Scamander? He was part of the beast scandal with Grindelwald and MACUSA a few months back."

The wizard went silent. Of course he knew Newt Scamander, that was the man whose case ______ was supposed to steal. The plan the two of them made together. Why would she be with him?

"There's something else you should know," the private detective continued. "I overheard their conversation. It seems as if ______ has lost her memory."

This made the wizard perk up. "She can't remember anything? Not even me?"

"She didn't know your name, she didn't have a single response," the detective told him. "Now tell me, how is that possible when you already punished the man who tried to Obliviate her?"

The wizard pushed away the question. "I hired you because unlike the last man, you claimed to be no-maj friendly. I didn't hire you to ask me questions. Do you know where she's staying?"

"Luckily, they walked home. I can tell you the exact apartment complex, but not the address."

"Then find out, and get her back," the wizard ordered going up to the detective. "Or do you want to end up like the last detective?"

The detective apparated, leaving the other wizard alone. ______ doesn't remember me. This means we can have a fresh start; this means I can get everything I ever wanted. I never wanted to Obliviate her, but this is better. I can completely restart.

I just need to get her back.

"Tina, please, I need more time." Newt was trying to get through to her that morning. She had come home late last night, and right now all she wanted to do was drink her tea and enjoy her morning before she had to head back to work.

"I gave you a week, Newt. It's not my fault that your time is almost up and you're no closer to finding out who she is than you were when this all started," Tina told him coolly. "We could be dealing with something bigger when it comes to her. We don't know who she is, who she's connected to, or why they would want your case. MACUSA could really help."

"MACUSA would obliviate her, and then all her memories of magic would be gone and we'd be worse off than when we started," Newt told her. "She's remembering more than you give her credit for, she really is. Another week is all I ask of you, Tina. Two weeks total."

Tina sighed, looking towards the room Newt and ______ were sharing. She was still sleeping, and Tina considered everything that had happened. Newt was right about one thing: they needed to find out more about her. The confrontation they had in that alleyway still put Tina on edge: someone was looking for her, someone who wasn't afraid of using violence to get to her.

An idea popped into her head.

"Where were you guys when that wizard attacked you?" Tina asked Newt, changing the subject completely.
