After I woke up from my nap I decided to go see Roger. His birthday was last week when I was away so I hadn't had the chance to say happy birthday. I cycled over to his house and knocked on the door.

"Uh, John!" His eyes widened

"Hey, everything alright?" I questioned

"Yeah, fine. Anita and Brian are here" Roger let me step inside. We went into the living room where they were seated.

"Happy Birthday by the way" I smiled at roger before sitting down

"Thanks" he smiled back

"Hey guys" I waved at Brian and Anita

"H-Hi John" Brian stuttered

"Hey!" Anita grinned

"Will someone tell me what's going on?" My eyes darted to Anita, then Brian, then Roger - they were looking at Anita and not saying a word

"Nothing John" Anita spoke up

"You told them, didn't you?" I quizzed

"I'm so sorry, me and my big mouth! I was worried and I wanted to prepare them so they didn't flip" Anita explained in a ramble

"Anita!" I was in disbelief

"I'm sorry!" She cried out again

"So, guys. Are you ok with it?" I questioned them this time

"I'm fine with it, I was just shocked" Roger explained

"Me too" Brian nodded

"I'm still the same Deaky" I giggled

They laughed too.

"Are you looking forward to your birthday John?" Brian changed the subject

"Yeah. I was thinking of having everyone over. Freddie will be here for my birthday too" I explained

"Sounds good" Brian grinned

"I'm in" Roger rubbed his hands together

"Sorry John, I have Meena to look after. You guys just have a boys night in" Anita said

"Alright" I was buzzing already

"Did you tell Freddie about us?" Roger asked

"Of course I did" I said

"What is he like?" Roger asked further

"You'll like him, he's a right character" I smirked

"What did you think of him?" Brian asked Anita

"He brings out the best in everyone. Especially John" Anita said

"Yeah. And he cares for everyone he sees, he doesn't judge, and he loves a laugh" I added

"I'm happy for you John, he seems like a great guy" Brian said

"It means a lot Brian, thanks" I was grateful that Brian said that

"Yeah, I can't wait to meet him" Roger smiled

"What is he in to?" Brian asked

"He likes sport and music, he can swim really well and his singing is beautiful" I said

"We could jam with him!" Brian got excited

"We'll see" I smirked

"Brill!" Brian smiled

"I best be getting home guys, I still haven't properly seen dad" I explained

"Alright, I'll see you around" Roger gave me a hug

"Bye bye!" Brian waved

"See ya!" Anita called out

"Bye!" I shouted out for the last time before cycling home. I pedalled fast because it was raining and the clouds were rolling in.

I made it home and cycled around to the back garden where I keep my bike. I ran in and shook my head to get the worst of the rain drops off my short fluffy hair.

"Hey son" My dad startled me

I turned around and saw him as I was unzipping my coat, "Hey"

"How was India?" He asked

"It was great, it's so beautiful there. We went to this lake and it was so nice and warm! Freddie managed to convince me to jump off this huge rock with him, that was scary" I chuckled to myself

"That's great to hear" he smiled

"I had a lot of fun" I mumbled as I reflected in my time in the magnificent country

"I had a chat with your mum, she told me about young Freddie" Dad said. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, he said it with no emotion. Was he happy? Was he mad? I had no idea

"Oh yeah?" My eyes widened

"I just wanted to say, I'm proud of you boy. It takes guts to be true to yourself. Just promise me one thing" Dad said

"What is it?" I questioned

"Promise me that you will be happy" Dad said

"Of course I will" I embraced my dad and he hugged back

"Good lad. Now, what shall we do tonight?" Dad quizzed

"I'm still a bit tired, can we just have a lazy night watching tv?" I asked

"Sounds like a plan" he ruffled my hair before going into the living room with me at foot

We went in and sat with mum on the sofa, an old black and white film was playing. If I'm honest, my head wasn't really into the film, I was thinking of Freddie. What would he be doing now? Is he thinking of me? Is he alright? Whatever I did, that raven haired, mystic eyed, boy would never leave my mind. Quickly, he became the most important thing to me and I wouldn't change that for the world.

I have school tomorrow. Life will soon be back to normality, back to boredom, back to loneliness. Hardly any of my classes had Roger and Brian in them - Roger was in my English class and Brian was in my maths and science classes - only music had all three of us together.
