It was a normal day in the Avengers Compound. Tony and Steve were fighting and everyone else was either watching or ignoring them. Everyone except Stephen. Stephen had strolled into the kitchen to make himself tea, when he spied Tony and Steve in a heated argument. Stephen rushed to stand in front of Tony, blocking him from Steve's view.
"For once in your life could you leave him alone?" Stephen angrily asks.
"I can defend myself. I don't need your help." Tony defends.
"Stay out of it, Strange. Tony needs to be more involved with the team."
Stephen scoffs. "Involved? Who's Compound are you standing in? Who's housing you, clothing you, and feeding you?"
"That doesn't change the fact that he barely attends meetings or comes out of his workshop."
"I go down there to invent the stuff you use in everyday life, Rogers. Don't tell me I'm not involved." Tony spat, moving in front of Stephen. Stephen conjures a portal, prepared to launch it towards Steve. Tony puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't kill him, alright? Besides that, knock yourself out." Stephen nods, launching the portal towards Steve. The Compound goes quiet.
"Uh....thanks for helping me out." Tony awkwardly thanks Stephen. Stephen rubs the back of his neck, nodding. Tony heads down to the workshop, while Stephen heads to his room with tea.
"Ugh. That was so painful to watch. They're so oblivious." Nat groans. Rhodey nods. "Tell me about it."
"We need to get them together in some way. This is going to drag on forever if we don't do something." Bruce agrees.
"We could rig seven minutes in heaven." Clint offers.
"Strange would never agree to do that in the first place. We need something better." Nat dismisses.
Wanda shoots up. "I have an idea. I could chain them together with my powers. Every time Strange tries to break the chain with his magic, they reveal a secret. When they confess their feelings for each other, the chains will break off." Wanda proposes.
"Isn't that a little mean?" Scott questions.
"Mean? Yes. Entertaining? Also yes." Wanda answers with a sly grin.
At night when both of them are finally asleep, Wanda creeps into their rooms. She twirls her fingers around, making a scarlet colored chain. She shoots it at Tony and then moves on to Stephen. Everyone else waits outside in the hallway. Wanda steps out. "Let's get the popcorn ready."
Tony opens his heavy eyelids. He almost screamed in shock. Next to him laid Stephen, fast asleep. Why was he in his bed? Did he get drunk last night? Tony attempts to rub his eyes, finding a chain on his arm, connecting him to Stephen. Tony had to admit, Stephen looked pretty cute when he was sleeping. He lightly shakes him awake. "Strange." He whispers. "Get up."
Stephen opens his eyes slowly. He jumps back in surprise. "Why am I in your bed and why are we chained together?"
"I don't know!" Stephen sighs heavily. Tony takes a closer look at the chains. "They don't look like regular chains." He comments. "They look like something Maximoff can make. But if they are hers, why would she chain us together in the first place?" Tony wonders.
"Let's see if I can get them off with a spell." Stephen tries to break the chains. "I'm secretly gay." He blurts. He covers his mouth with his unchained hand. "I didn't mean to say that."
Blushing, Stephen tries again. "I've dated more men than women." Tony blurts out. "I didn't mean to say that either."
"Stop messing with those chains. They're making us say things we don't want to say. They're revealing our secrets " Tony cautions. Stephen stops.
"I guess we should start our day." Tony nods.
"Cover your eyes while I change." Tony orders. He changes as quickly as possible.
Once Tony was changed Stephen opens his eyes. Stephen and Tony uncomfortably walk to Stephen's room to let him change into his own clothes. Stephen magically puts them on. Cloak latches onto Stephen energetically. They walk into the kitchen, grabbing some breakfast. "What happened here?" Nat asks with a smirk.
"We don't really know exactly. We think it has to do with Maximoff." Tony tells her.
"Have you tried using magic on them? That should work."
"We have. Whenever I try, we end up saying a secret of ours." Stephen explains.
"Well good luck with that." Nat leaves the room. Wanda and Clint enter. Clint chokes on his own laughter as soon as he sees Tony and Stephen.
"What's going on?" Wanda asks innocently. Stephen glares at her.
"Fix this. We know you did it."
Wanda pretends to look confused. "I didn't do that. Why would I?" Tony sighs in defeat.
"Let's just try to figure this out." Tony leads Stephen back to his room. They sit on his bed. "You're secretly gay?"
Stephen nods. "Yes. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, of course it's okay. I'm bisexual, so it'd be stupid if I wasn't okay with it." Tony replies. "Maybe you should take Nat's advice and try magic again. The secrets stay between us though, okay?"
Stephen nods in agreement. He tries magic again. "I still own footie pajamas." Tony admits. He goes bright red. Stephen giggles a little. "Shut up."
Stephen does magic again, hesitant. "I wish I could kiss you right now." Stephen flushes red. Tony locks eyes with Stephen.
"You're serious?" Tony intrigues. Stephen nods, beyond embarassed. "What a coincidence. I feel the same way." They lean into a kiss, the chains breaking. Tony wraps his arms around Stephen's neck, deepening the kiss. They break apart, smiling. They kiss each other again. Little did they know, the Avengers were behind the door with popcorn in their hands, proud of themselves. Well, besides Steve. Where was he anyway?
