Happy Birthday, Doc

     Stephen woke up to his usually cold room, stretching slightly as he walked to his bathroom to do his morning routine.  Putting on some casual clothes, the Cloak, or Cloaky as Peter called it, attached itself to him.  He checked his phone and realized it was his birthday.  In his youth, he used to love his birthday.  He would always throw a huge party with all of his family gathered around him.  Now, it was bittersweet.  He didn't have anyone to celebrate with.  

     Interrupting his thoughts, Stephen's phone rang.  "Hello?"  He sounded much more tired than he thought he was.

     "Hey, it's Tony.  Would you like to come over soon?  I think it'd be fun just to hang out.  Just the two of us for once."  Stephen could practically hear Tony's wide grin through the phone.

      "Sure.  I'll be over in ten."  Stephen slipped on some shoes and entered the main living room of the Avengers Compound through a portal.  Tony wasn't there.  He checked his room.  He wasn't there either.  Finally he checked Tony's workshop.

      Tony's back was facing Stephen.  He seemed to be fiddling with a piece of technology, humming lightly to himself.  "Am I too early?"

     Tony turned to face him.  A bright smile formed on his face.  "Right on time, actually.  Happy birthday, Doc."  Tony held a watch in his hand.  "I know how much you loved watches before the accident, so I thought I'd make you one."  

      When Stephen didn't say anything, Tony began to worry that his gift wasn't good enough for the sorcerer.  "Do you like it?  I'm sorry if watches hurt your hands or something like that.  It was a dumb idea.  I'm so-"

     "I love it."  Stephen whispers.  "I love it!"  He declares with more volume.  He brings Tony into a hug, something Tony nor Stephen ever expected they would share. 

     For the rest of the day, they discussed everything from the Avengers to their past lives.  Tony even made a cake for Stephen, though it was overcooked.  Stephen smiled warmly at Tony.  As it turns out, he did have someone to share his birthday with.
