It was nighttime in Inkopolis, just a regular night as usual. Everyone on Vintage's team was asleep, or so he thought. Vintage had a secret that he was extremely embarrassed about but loved doing—he loved singing. A lot. He knew at this time every night, nobody was awake, so he could sing in peace, without his teammates interrupting. He was actually really good.
He started singing Nasty Majesty, his absolute favorite song. He was close to memorizing the entire song, so he's been nonstop practicing it every night. He loved the lyrics and the beat so much for some reason, it just kind of represented his personality in a way.
Meanwhile, Omega was still awake. She was busy drawing, like she usually did. She hasn't stayed up this late since probably a few months ago, mainly because there was usually things to do the next morning. Plus, she hasn't been this inspired and motivated to draw since a while, too. She figured nobody was awake, so she started to sing Nasty Majesty. Everyone on the team knew that was her favorite song, and she sung it all the time at the team apartment. Sometimes in public, but quietly, of course.
Vintage, while singing, heard a faint noise. He immediately stopped, hoping no one had randomly awoken for no reason. As he listened closely, he realized that it was a female voice also singing Nasty Majesty. Judging by the tone of the voice and the way they were singing it, he recognized it as Omega's voice. Why the hell is she awake? Vintage nervously thought, not knowing whether to stop singing and sleep or not. After all, it was just Omega, who wouldn't tease him about it for the rest of his life like Double Egg and Red Sole would. Making a decision, he continued singing at the part she was at.
Omega was surprised to hear a male voice now singing along with her. She couldn't hear it too well, but she knew it was there, and only one inkling's voice sounded like that. Vintage. But he doesn't even sing! She couldn't help thinking. She didn't stop singing though, since she sung all the time and her teammates didn't mind. She realized he was actually pretty good at it, for someone who supposedly didn't know how to sing. She was originally going to sing another song after this one, but now she didn't want to. She was at the beginning anyways, so might as well finish it together. The two continued singing together, until they reached the end of the song. Both went silent.
Vintage waited a bit, wondering is she was going to start singing again or not. Though, Omega was approaching his room. She walked quietly as to not let him know she was coming, then opened the door. He looked shocked that she was there, and also very nervous.
"Hey." Omega said, closing the door behind her and immediately sat on the edge of his bed.
"W-What?" Vintage stuttered, an obvious sign he was nervous since he never does.
"I didn't know you could sing." She made a signal for him to sit next to her, and he reluctantly did.
"Well...I, um, can."
"You're really good. How long have you known how?"
"...not a long time. I just practice at night since nobody's awake." He looked directly at her, hinting towards the question of why she was awake.
"Oh. I was up drawing, since I had a lot of inspiration and we don't have anything to do tomorrow, or today technically."
"Must've had a lot of inspiration to stay up until almost two in the morning drawing." Vintage was glad to turn the subject away from himself.
"Says you, who stayed up singing instead."
Vintage looked away embarrassedly. "Quiet."
"Aww, are you embarrassed~?" Omega asked playfully, laying down on his lap.
Out of all the times to do this, it had to be now?! Vintage thought to himself, turning his head to look down at her. She did this a lot to the others and of course him, but it was just a joke and didn't mean anything. Not that it did now, but they were alone. "No," he replied with a straight face, trying to hide the fact that he was about to smile.
"You're about to smile so you are~!" Omega looked back up at him, looking innocently into his eyes.
Vintage couldn't help but smile a little. "Quiet, child."
Omega didn't say anything back, but shifted into a more comfortable position, still on his lap, and closed her eyes. Vintage stayed silent, thinking to himself, before realizing she had fallen asleep. A tiny blush appeared on his face as he saw what the situation looked like, but shook it away. He gently moved her off to get up and turn off the light. The window was still open, giving off a bit of light so he could kind of see. He sat down again, moving her so she was laying on his lap again. He as surprised she hasn't woken up from that, since she was a light sleeper. He laid down, comfortable due to her warmth. Humming Nasty Majesty a little, he eventually fell asleep.
