Leon p.o.v.
(Cursive doesn't work so this is a p.o.v. in normal writing)
I follow the mother downstairs to the captain's office, and she shows us something I never thought I would have seen. She points at the wall and shows us a portal. I'm extremely careful at the moment. I want to get out of this night, but just going into the portal first or second could mean the end of me. I look at Roan, he nods. He walks into the portal, so I decide to follow him. Luckily, it's not as bad as we thought. "Good luck." I tell him. "You too." He says to me. I can't lose this. If I let Roan out of this, I let Roi and Espen down. The portal sends us to a room, with nothing but a door at the end. "What do we need to do?" He asks. I walk towards the door and notice there's a combination lock and a note. I look at the note and it's an explanation to how the challenge work. "The challenge is on here." I say. "What does it say?" Roan asks. I read it out loud. "Solve the riddles, the amount of letters your answer has is the number you need to insert in the combinatioj lock. The first riddle is on the back of this note." I finish reading and Roan takes it from my hand.
"I have thirteen hearts, but I don't live. What am I?" Roan reads. I think for a while, and I figure it out. "A game of cards!" I say. "Cards is five letters." I spin the lock to turn it into six. "This one was easy." Roan says. "Then why was I the one who answered?" I say, mockingly. "Where would the next riddle be?" Roan asks. I look around the room to see if I can find it. "Hey, Roan." I say. "Let's work together on this one." I say. He nods in agreement. "Sure." He says. I look between the wooden planks of the floor and notice a piece of paper stuck between it. "Hey, here's one!" I say. I read it out loud. "What was was before was was was..." I look at it in confusion. "What?" Roan asks. "What was was before was was was?" He thinks. "Oh my God, is this the type of questions we're gonna get?" He stresses. "I think I get it." I say. I do, I heard the riddle before. "Before was was was, was was is." I say. "I still don't get it." Roan says. "The word is is, so let's just put in a two." I say. I turn the combination lock to add a two. "I have the last one." Roan says, and he pulls a card from the wall. "It says, this is the final riddle; you see a boat filled with people, but when you look again you don't see a single person on the boat." He explains. "All the people are married?" I suggest. And I put in twenty-two for the last two numbers and the lock unlocks. "We made it!" I say. "Great!" Roan says. "Open the door." He walks my way while I open the door to the next room.
The next room is just like the last one. Empty, except in this room, there is one cupboard in the back of the room with four plates in it, and a table in the middle of the room. "What's this?" I ask. "How am I supposed to know this?" Roan asks. Roan takes out one plate. He looks at in shock. "Oh my God." He says. "What?" I ask. I walk over to him so I can see what he sees. He puts the plate on the table. "Meghan's name is on it." He says. "A note!" I see a note on the table and I run towards it. "In order to complete this challenge, you must smash one of these plates. The name you shatter into pieces will die a horrible death." I read. "Fuck." Roan says. "I mean, it's between Rose and Meghan." I say. "So let's put Espen and Roi out of the way." I reach for the plates in the cupboard and put Rose's down on the table, while I take Roi's and Espen's to the other side of the table. Then, one of the plates slips out of my hands.
