As I stepped down the stairs, singing filled my ears

But it wasn't just any song.

As I got to the bottom of the landing, I saw my mother, father, betas and deltas all huddled around a table.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dead Bryant." They continued to sing as I approached them

Today was my eighteenth birthday, but it wasn't just a regular birthday to a regular human becoming an "adult." Not even to a regular werewolf is 18 special. I am a special kind of werewolf called Lycans. Lycans are like the super werewolf's if you will. We're taller, faster, stronger and some would say more attractive. For a 18 year old Lycan this is the day you'd pick up on your mates scent and if you were in line to be an alpha. The alpha title would be passed down to you on this very day.

Luckily for me I am now the alpha of the Shaded Moon Pack. It wasn't a hard position, since I had been preparing for this my whole life. With being alpha I also get my two best friends to be my beta and delta, which I couldn't be happier about.

I smiled and laughed as I bent down and blew out the candles.

Cheering and whooping filled the room.

"Happy birthday honey." My mother smiled giving me a kiss on the cheek.

My father gave me a strong slap to the back that kinda made me jolt. That was my dad though not really a talker.

"Thanks guys, you didn't have to do this." I exclaimed looking around the room to see a couple balloons and streamers in a doorway.

"No need to, we had to do this." Clinton my delta and best friend little brother stated pointing to each balloon.

"Are you excited? You can finally be able to pick up her scent." Jen the female delta questioned me

"Yeah this is a special day ya know, you could find her today. You might find her just walking down a street or she might be here already." Xavier my beta said looking to his mate Jen.

Xavier turned 18 two years ago and it only took him 4 months to find his mate, which is very rare where some males take years to find their mate.

I had seen Xavier and Jen's relationship blossom into something that only a mated couple could have. They seem to never be able to stop laughing. She had given birth to their son 3 months ago, a product of their unconditional love for each other.

I'll admit, I was envious of what he had, a mate that loved him and a son he adored.

Now those thoughts didn't affect me. Tonight the boys and I were going to take me into town later in the night to help me find her and celebrate along the way. The only thing I had on my mind was finding my mate.

"I am, I can't even imagine how beautiful and bubbly she is." I smiled looking down at my shoes.

"What if I can't find her? Will she even love me?" I said searching for an answer from Xavier's face to Jens.
