POV: BRYANT-
It had been 5 days since I marked River.
I immediately took her to see the pack doctor after she passed out from the marking and she laid unconscious ever since.
Her once beautiful glowy skin was ghostly pale and she had lost all warmth to her cheeks.
She looked like her transition from human to Lycan was doing anything, but helping her.
My mate was becoming weak and my wolf could feel it.
I stayed day and night with River and every time I came back the next morning from running errands I was disappointed that she wasn't better.
I sat in the room River had been staying in. I hated seeing her with tubes and wires. She was put on oxygen, because she had stopped breathing half way throughout the night. I was furious that Penny hadn't alerted me when it happened and instead waited to tell me.
Ever since I've been coming in before the sun was up to have alone time with River.
"Alpha?" I heard a voice.
I jolted awake to see Penny peaking around the corner.
"You're here early." She chuckled.
I looked outside to see wide variety of colors in the sky, dawn.
"It's 6." She informed me
"When you feel there's something wrong with your mate, you run to their side." I grumbled breaking eye contact with her to see River still limp in bed.
She frowned leaning against the door frame.
"Alpha, I'm sorry about the other night, but nothing has changed since you first brought her in. Her vitals, blood and breathing are still the same-"I put my palm up. "I want to be with my mate."
She sighed looking at me then to River. "Alpha you need rest, it's early and I heard you were taking the younger wolves hunting today. I promise to stay with River and immediately tell you if anything changes.
I hate seeing you worry when all she need is time to get better."I sighed, she was right I was starting to lose hope River would wake up.
I walked over to River's side and touched her hand with my right while my left touched her tussled waves.
Her hair felt softer than I had remembered.
I'll be back. I mind linked her. I leaned over kissing her on the forehead.
"I'll be back right after I'm done with the hunt." I grabbed my jacket passing through the doorway.
"Of course Alpha, let your wolf run. It'll help."
-
I slammed the pack houses door closed. I kicked my shoes off angrily and groaned my way into the kitchen pulling the fridge door open.
