POV: RIVER

-

I picked up a piece of hair in between my pointer finger and thumb, meeting it with my curling iron.

I wrapped my shiny brown hair around the iron and held them just for a few moments before letting the curl go and flow down the front of my chest. I repeated the curling method a few more times until my head was full of loose beach waves.

There was a soft knock at from the outside, I stepped back and pulled the heavy wooden door open to see Cassandra standing there. Her hair in a slicked back pony, paired with a blouse tucked into ripped black jeans and of course red lipstick to match it.

"Wow, that jumpsuit really shows of your curves. I haven't realized how gorgeous you were." Cass said placing her thumbnail to her lips.

I smiled and turned back to the huge mirror that took up more than half of the wall. My body had really changed a lot since being bitten. I was a lot taller to be closer to Bryant, my hair was full and long, my body had shape, even though I weighed a lot less than what I had in the past.

"It's just one of the qualities about being a wolf." I shrugged.

"Everyone here is?" She asked sheepishly.

I nodded.

She looked at the ground and then back up to look me in the eyes in the mirror. "Clinton too?"

"Yeah, Clinton too." I gave a soft smile. "I shouldn't be telling you this and really it's not my place to tell you, but your Clinton's mate and you're most likely going to go through the same things I did."

She furrowed her eyebrow. "What do you mean by mate?"

I knew I shouldn't be telling anything about her and Clinton's mate bond, but he wouldn't have told her until she was long gone back home. Clint would be heart broken even through he's still too young to pick up his mates smell. "Well, Bryant felt a special connection towards me and Clinton feels exactly the same way towards you."

She clasped her hands together across her chest giddily. "He likes me? We just met! This is all so crazy and happening so fast. I don't even know if I have the same feeling towards him right now let alone get married! Riv? Do you think we'll get married. He's very cute actually. Younger than me, but still adorable."

I places my hands on the sink hanging my head down low, I turned around to face Cass and through for a second before speaking. "You have your whole life ahead of you and Clinton is just going to distract you. It's not a big deal now, but he'll be 18 soon and his mate bond for you is only going to get stronger. You have a family, a job and school. It'll be a lot harder for you to go missing when you're forced to change. I don't have a family, hell I don't think my mother has realized I thought. The strip club is whatever, I'm sure I'm fired by now. I want what's best for you."

Her eyes looked at anything in the room but myself. "I know and I appreciate that. I really do. This is my life not yours, but I'm not worried right now and neither should you. Let's just go to dinner like we were going to before I found out about any of this, okay?"

I huffed. "I don't want you or clinton to get hurt."

She stepped closer to me to close the gap in between us. She wrapped her arms around my torso and place her head on my chest, embracing me in a tight squeeze.
