POV: RIVER

-

Silence filled my ears for a moment and then that silence was gone.

The silence was interrupted by what I made out a crackling fire and distance voices of boys yelling at each other.

Probably just someone from down the hall.

Since I was still tired from a long day of working, I decided I was going to sleep for at least a few more minutes.

With my eyes still closed, I rolled over onto my right side

I took a deep breath in that smelt something like freshly cleaned sheets with a mix of pine trees.

Odd. We don't have any pine trees around the city unless Cass just bought a new air freshener and sprayed it in my room.

I hadn't talked to Cass since last night, I wanted to tell her about another experience with Jeff and the 3 boys that I met.

Once I finally decided to peek my heavy eyelids open, I was instantly greeted with a black picture frame.

My eyebrows furrowed as I sat up and took the picture frame from the nightstand.

There was 5 smiling boys in the picture, I looked over the faces recognizing non of them, until I got to the one on the right hand side.

I recognize him! That's the boy who tried talking to me!

I brought my knees over the side of the bed and slowly stood up, trying to be quiet Incase a sleeping person was also in the room.

As I did so, I felt ice cold air hit my legs.
I looked down to see my dress was gone and I was now in an oversized shirt that fell to my mid thigh.

Someone was in here.

Everything about the room was dark except the white bed that I had slept on.

I made my way over to the cobblestone fireplace that had barely had a flame coming out of it.

Someone was definitely in here.

As I stood in the middle of the room on a plush rug.

The doorknob that led to I assumed the hallway jiggled

I took a couple steps back trying to find anywhere to hide.

I looked around the room once more, a door.

I crept into the doorway of the bathroom, just peaking my eyes out to see if the owner of the room would walk in.

"Come on man, that's the alphas room." said a voice that had a masculine sound to it.

"So? He won't find out. Whoever's in here is unmated." A husky voice said sounding irritated.

A moment later I heard the two pairs of feet walk away.

I took a deep breath trying to calm my raging heart beat.

I decided to take a moment to myself. I closed the heavy bathroom door and turned on the lights.
