You were standing up at the top of Mt. Coronet, looking over the edge as you stood over, looking down. Mt. Coronet was the tallest mountain in Sinnoh, and supposedly where Dialga and Palkia were supposed to reside. Gods that were supposed to be here were apparently supposed to know all things, but that's not why you were here. You had prayed, hoping that someone would answer your call. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, and soon years. Nothing. No voice, no divine intervention. Just silence as the wind blew between your fingers. Looking down, you always had a fear of heights, but now, it seemed to be a voice of its own. No one could understand what you were going through. Not your parents, not a teacher, and especially not anyone else. It was time to end it. To end the suffering. The pain. The unbearable feeling of being utterly useless to do anything let alone do anything useful.

Looming over the edge, you looked at Sinnoh, the clouds breaking occasionally below you. Pokémon were moving around, following the law of nature. Soon, you'd be a part of it as well, except you'd be food for any Pokémon. Death seemed like the only useful thing that you could ever accomplish. You were a curse, a scourge, nothing more than a nuisance and a waste of life. All it would take was one step forward, then it would all be over. Tears were flowing gently from your eyes as you prepared yourself for the drop. Blades would've taken too long. Hanging would have been too much of a struggle and would have only caused you more suffering. The sudden stop from a long fall... an immediate and painless death.... That was the way you wanted it.

You ignored the constant shuffling of grass, the rocks falling down the mountain, and the whispers of the wind telling you not to do this. Some were loud, some weren't. The bullying at school, the torture of keeping it all inside, knowing that you'd never amount to a speck of dust and do anything right, everything was just too much. You steeled yourself, shutting your eyes and taking a large breath through your nose, knowing it would be your last. Your tears were no longer tears of sadness. Instead, they turned into tears of acceptance, tears of happiness. You started to lean forward, letting gravity do the rest. The wind was starting to push past you. As you were about to jump a little to avoid any ledges that the cliff, you were denied your privilege when you felt something grab the bottom of your shirt and pull you back sharply. Your eyes shot open as you were pulled back, landing on your butt and bouncing once.

You were getting pulled back, away from the cliff. As you turned your head around, still in shock, you saw something red and white biting down on your shirt, continuing to drag you back. You struggled to break yourself free, going into a fight or flight mode. You didn't want to become food just yet. You didn't want to feel any of the pain. You turned yourself around, trying to get the Pokémon to let go. Through the tears, you made out what the Pokémon was. It was an Absol. What in the blazes was it... It was trying to stop you.... You tried kicking at it to make it drop you.

"Let go! I don't want to live!" Despite that, the Absol refused to release you. You got a kick to the side of the head, making it grunt, but it was still biting your shirt. Either it was really trying to save your life, or it really wanted you as a meal. Either way, you weren't going to let it do what it wanted. You kicked multiple times, missing most of them while panicking. You threw another kick, this time hitting it square in the face. That made it yelp and let go of you. Picking yourself back up as quickly as you could, the Absol recovered, shaking its head and coming back at you, teeth bared. You turned and ran, trying to get to the edge. Barely able to keep the distance, you reached the edge and jumped forward. As you saw the ground below you, you felt the Absol bite on to your shirt again. You started to fall, but the Absol was keeping you from going any further. You heard your shirt tear as you came closer to the mountain. To your horror, you realized that you weren't going to make the painless jump to the bottom of the mountain. You heard the rest of your shirt rip as you slammed into the cliff. The pain was immediate, and only got worse as you screamed down the cliff.
