It had only been three weeks before you had been stitched up and told by the doctors that you would be good to go. The stitches were removed only a week ago, leaving a small scar on your left shoulder. When Mom heard about what happened, she really laid into the school staff for not taking you out or taking Dominick out. During the time you heard your mom vent to your Dad, you overheard her saying they were lucky she didn't sue them. It had been only about another month since you got the stitches removed. Dominick had been expelled from school indefinitely for bringing a weapon on school grounds and harming another student. Despite your mother wanting to take you out of the school immediately, you wanted to stay for the last week of school. Your parents were surprised, but you had your own reason. You thought you'd never be more thankful for homework. It was a nice break from everything else that happened, and it kept you away from school.
One night though, while at home, you couldn't sleep in your bed. You rarely could get to sleep indoors. While your parents were asleep, you snuck out of the house and went to your backyard. Being in only shorts and a T-shirt as you slept, you often fell asleep on the grass, listening to the ocean waves. Your parents often found you curled up in a ball outside on the grass. The nights outside always took a little while before you could actually sleep. Either you needed to cool down a little bit or your mind just wouldn't stop thinking of ways to try and end it. Tonight wasn't too different. The thoughts of suicide came, but they didn't seem to linger for as long as they did before. Sleep came by, and soon you found yourself in your dreams.
Things started out normal, rain storms, loud thunder, harsh winds. But things didn't play out normally. There was no tidal wave to push you back and drown you. No tornado to hurl you over a bottomless cliff. And there wasn't any fissure that opened up beneath your feet and sealed itself above you. Instead, everything seemed to calm down. This was a first. All you had been dreaming of for the past year was nothing but suicide attempts or nature trying to kill you.
The clouds broke away, and sun seemed to shine through them. The sky was actually turning blue, and the wind subsided to a breeze. Light, for once, seemed to pierce into your dreams. Feeling a presence, you turned around. You let out a small gasp as you saw the red Absol that had saved you twice. It looked at you, then started to approach you. You just continued to stare at it, even as it got close enough to jump you. You expected it to jump at you, rip out your throat, or maul you. Instead, when it stood directly in front of you, it sat down, looking up at you. You looked down at it, wanting to ask it a question, but knowing that you wouldn't get any really answer. Instead, you just sat down, now looking up at it instead of down. The question kept coming to your mind, but it would have been no use. Pokémon couldn't speak, and those that could-
"It's okay (Y/n)." You could hardly believe it for a minute, but... then you started to realize this was a dream. Anything was possible in a dream.
"You don't have to be scared anymore. I'll be here for you." The Absol seemed to smile, then it came closer towards you, getting into your personal space. "Just promise me that when you wake up, you'll change yourself for the better. Please? If it means anything, I'll be there for each step of the way." Instead of the darkness that you woke up to, everything started to get bright until you couldn't see anything at all. The voice given off in the dream... it was so soft and gentle... it was hard not to have it echo in your mind.
Waking up with the darkness of your eye-lids covering your vision, you felt the breeze from the wind brush over your skin, sending a small jitter through your body. As well as the wind, you felt something else brush over your arms. Slowly opening your eyes and letting them adjust to the sun, you saw something blindingly white in front of you, making you squint your eyes some more until they could adjust some more. When they did, you caught something red sticking out from the corner of your eyes. Looking down to see what, your body went on full alert when you realized you had the same exact Absol in your arms!
