"Wait, you're not going with us?" Tyler asked aggravated.
"No. Dean wants me to go with him." I answered.
"So what, now he's more important than us?"
"I never said that Tyler!"
"Chill Tyler. It's just one trip. It's not the end of the world." Joe defended.
"Thank you!"
"So are you guys together or something?" Tyler asked.
"No but I do like him." Tyler scoffed.
"What?!"
"He's not the guy for you."
"Why because YOU'RE the only guy for me?! We're done here. I'm taking a shower and going to bed."
"Wait hold on a min-" But it was too late. I had closed the door.
"Dude, you mean well and all, but you need to back off." I heard Joe say.
"I don't like him Joe. There's something about him."
"Now is it because because he's really a bad guy? Or is it because he's winning Annaleigh over?" Joe asked. It was silent for a few minutes before Joe spoke again. "I like him. He's a good guy, Ty. I see how he looks at Anna and I can tell he truly cares for her. I also see how happy he makes her."
"That's what I don't like!"
"Tyler I know you love her and want to be with her. I also know that she loves you... just not in the same way. You need to realize that you can't force someone to feel a certain way for you when it's just not there. Believe me I know first hand."
The next morning there was a knock on the door. Joe answered it and I heard,
"Is Annaleigh here?"
"Yea man come on in!" I had just finished packing.
"Morning beautiful! You ready?"
"Yep!"
"Alright then let's head out."
We turned to leave and was confronted by Tyler.
"Tyler." Dean said.
"Dean." There was an awkward silence...
"Take care of her." Tyler warned.
"Always."
The car ride was silent for a little while but I finally perked up. The scenery was fascinating! We made it to our hotel a little later than planned. (I had him stop alot so I could take pictures.) We found our room easily and started to unpack. Dean was the first to get in the shower while I decided to change and just take my shower in the morning. I picked which bed I'd be sleeping in and started to climb in when a giant spider made its appearance. I HATE spiders!! I screamed bloody murder and Dean ran out with nothing but a towel on.
"What?! What's wrong?!"
"SPIDER!" Dean looked in the direction I was pointing and saw the tarantula. He easily picked it up and put it outside. I shivered at the sight of him actually picking the stupid thing up!
He finished getting dressed and watched as I continued to search for more spiders. He laughed while watching me, "So... you'll sleep with snakes and scorpions but not spiders?" He asked climbing into bed.
"No! Spiders are disgusting and they lay eggs in your ears!"
"Do what now?" He asked laughing as I continued my search. "Annaleigh it's getting late. You need to get some sleep because we have an early day tomorrow." He got relaxed and try as I might, I couldn't move past my fear, I couldn't bring myself to do it. So I laid on the floor.
"What are you doing?" Dean asked.
"I can't do it Jon. I have a serious case of arachnophobia.
"Arachno what?"
"Phobia. It's the fear of spiders. I see one and it feels like a million are crawling all over me. I get panic attacks at the thought of seeing more and I can't go into the area that I spotted them in."
He chuckled, "Come here." I did as he said and crawled into bed with him, still searching for any sign of more spiders.
"You need to relax sweetheart. There are no more spiders. Just relax." He said as he rubbed my back. Pretty soon, I was fast asleep.
***Dean's P.O.V***
Arachnophobia. Huh. I've never seen anyone with a phobia before, but hers was pretty serious. I've never seen her so scared. Or scared at all for that matter. As mean as this sounds, I'm glad it happened. It gives me a reason to hold her again.
The next day we headed to the place where we would be working.
"Where are we?" Annaleigh asked.
"Well, I remember you telling me that you like helping people. So I volunteered us to help at Habitat for Humanity." Her eyes lit up and a smile formed across her face. We got out and met the rest of the volunteers and even met Miss Tallie, the woman whose home we would be rebuilding. We worked late in to the evening and the whole time Annaleigh was enjoying herself. I'm really glad I chose this!
After we had called it a night, Miss Tallie invited all of the volunteers for a home cooked meal. We all sat around and talked and heard Miss Tallie tell her story. Her story was heartfelt and inspiring. My past seemed like nothing compared to Miss Tallies. I looked over at Annaleigh and noticed she was crying. I reached out and grabbed her hand. After our meal, we headed back to the hotel.
"Hey are you okay?" I asked.
"Yea! Why?"
"Well earlier when Miss Tallie was talking, you seemed upset."
"Oh. No I'm just an emotional person. It hurt hearing what Miss Tallie went through, but I admire her strength and courage. Even after everything she's been through, she still manages to smile. Thank you Jon for volunteering us to do that! It felt good making a difference in someone else's life." She said smiling.
"Anytime. I'm glad you had fun."
"So what's the plan for tomorrow?"
"It's a surprise." I winked. We turned in early and prepared for tomorrow.
***Annaleigh's P.O.V***
The next morning, Dean woke me up saying that he had another day planned for us. I hopped in the shower when I heard a knock on the door, "Annaleigh?"
"Yea?"
"Wear some comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes."
"Okay!" I got out and dressed in shorts, my high school t-shirt and tennis shoes. "Do I look alright?" I asked Dean.
"Yea you look perfect! Where we're going, fancy clothes would be ruined." He laughed. Dean was dressed in white shorts, a gray tank top, tennis shoes, and a ball cap. It's official. He could literally make any outfit look attractive!
"Where are we going?"
"It's a secret." He winked.
We headed out and made our way to a boat house.
"Ready?" Dean asked.
I shook my head and he opened my door, we walked up and were met by someone. Dean shook his hand and then it was my turn.
"You must be here for the tour."
"Yes sir." Dean answered.
"Alright. Let's get you set up." He led us to a boat and both he and Dean helped me in.
"Have you ever rode in a boat?" The guy asked me.
"Once. In Branson Missouri." Just then, a skinny man with a face full of beard showed up.
"This is your tour guide, Buzz. He'll be taking you on tour through New Orleans. I can assure you that you're in good hands."
"How're ya doing? I'm Buzz. Let's take you two love birds on a tour shall we?" Buzz said with a heavy Cajun accent.
We started out and the scenery was fascinating! Smelly, but fascinating. Buzz began telling us the history of New Orleans and the customs the Cajun people had. I was engrossed in what Buzz was explaining. These last 2 days have been so amazing! Jon put so much thought into it.
"Wait, what is that hanging from the tree?" Dean asked.
"Shrunken heads. That is the house of our local voodoo lady, Zulu. Do you believe in Voodoo?"
"Uh... it's not something I'd like to mess with." I said nervously. Buzz went on to define voodoo and explain that not all of it is evil. Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of alligators and I pointed so that Dean could see. One even swam up next to the boat. I couldn't resist, I leaned down and touched its skin.
"Annaleigh! Don't!" Dean called but nothing happened.
"Whoa! that was cool! Their skin is rough!" I said laughing. Dean just shook his head. I think I may have scared him just a bit.
"A wild one this one huh?" Buzz asked Dean motioning to me.
"You have no idea!" Dean said smiling. "Hey where is the best place to try Cajun food?" Dean asked Buzz. Buzz filled with laughter and told us where to go. Then Dean looked at me and asked, "Would you like to try some Cajun food?"
"Are you kidding me?! Yes!!" I said excitedly .
Buzz leaned over and whispered something in Dean's ear, which only made Dean smile widely. I was curious about what Buzz said but did not ask.
we arrived on land and thanked Buzz for the tour and Dean gave him a tip. We headed back to the hotel and got ready for our dinner date.
"Casual or dressy?" I asked Dean.
"How about a little of both?"
That could work! I changed into my new pair of jeans I had bought, a beige shirt that had floral run down the center, and brown leather boots.
"Wow! You look great!" Dean said.
"Thank you! So do you!" Dean wore dark blue jeans, a navy blue shirt that fit his body well, and his brown Dockers. We arrived at the restaurant and started the night off with a few beers. We talked and laughed like we always did until our food arrived. I ordered the special gumbo, while Dean ordered a sea plate. The food was amazing! Authentic taste and loaded with flavor and spices. Our mouths were on fire! The beer didn't even soften the burn.
After our mouths were no longer on fire and our taste buds were almost back to normal, we shared desert and made our way back to the hotel. Before we went in Dean grabbed my hand, "Do you mind if we talk?" He asked with all seriousness.
"Sure." I had become nervous now. This didn't sound good. He led me to a nearby bench and sat me down.
"These past few months, we've gotten closer. I know more about you and vice versa." He started. "I liked you from the start! I just didn't say anything because at first I thought you were just a ring rat, but I realized you are so much more than that! Then I chickened out because I felt like you deserved someone who could give you the American dream. Someone who could give you things on a silver platter because you deserve that! But then we went to California... and you openly let me into your heart and soul and showed me what you were really like. I even told you about my life and you completely accepted me. It was in California that I knew I had to have you in my life. You make me a better person. It was in California that I fell in love with you. Besides my other 2 brothers you've become my best friend and these last few days assured that. I don't have much to offer you Annaleigh, and I'm not one for showing how I feel. But if you can accept that, I swear I'll try my best to make you the happiest woman ever! I'd figure out ways to let you know that I care and make you feel special because you deserve that! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm crazy about you Annaleigh. I want to be with you. Will you be my girlfriend?"
His words shocked me! No guy has ever said that to me or even come remotely close! He liked me! I knew how I felt about him but to actually hear how he feels about me had my head spinning! I'd seriously be a fool if I let him slip through my fingers. With a huge smile on my face, I hugged him and said yes. He hugged me back tightly. This moment; the way he poured his heart out, couldn't have been a more perfect way to ask me! He broke our hug and placed his hands on my face and without hesitating he pressed his lips against mine. His kiss was passionate and deep and sweet! I felt my knees becoming weak. His kiss left me feeling like I was floating away... this is what love feels like.... wow! I've never known this feeling. I never expected to be here, I never expected to have a boyfriend... and I certainly wasn't expecting Dean Ambrose! He was the best surprise life had ever thrown my way!
