Chapter 22: The Proposal

***Dean's P.O.V***

We were on our way to Texas... and to think I was actually nervous, but at the same time exited. 'I've never been to Texas. Well, I mean I have just never got the chance to explore. I haven't even been to Lubbock. I take that back I have once for a Summer Slam tour. On top of that I'll be meeting Annaleigh's parent... that made me nervous! But we would be staying at Tyler's parents house... yea that's going to be awkward... oh well. I'll make the best of it. Hope I'm going the right way. Well I'm following Jacob so I should be good. Annaleigh was supposed to be giving me directions but princess is asleep. I really need to get a hold of myself! I started thinking about mine and Romans conversation last night.
(FLASHBACK)
"You guys are getting pretty serious huh?" Roman asked.
"I wouldn't say serious. I mean I'm crazy about her but like I said I want things to be different with her."
----- "Dang! NO!! Rematch! That was luck!" Seth shouted in the background.
"So does that mean marriage and kids?"
"Whoa! Joe! One thing at a time here!" I said.
"I'm just asking. It'd be nice to see you happy and settled down with a family of your own."
"I mean... yea it's a nice thought. I just never saw that kind of life in the cards for me."
"But you never expected Annaleigh either. Life does funny things to us when we least expect it."
"Thanks Dr. Phil."
"(laughs) What I mean is people and events change your opinions. I never expected to have Joelle but I did. It's just something to think about. Jon I see the way you look at her and the way you act around her. It's very different. I've bared witness to your past relationships and you never once acted or treated them the way you do Annaleigh."
"So what are you saying?"
"I'm saying Annaleigh could be the one for you. I say that because I don't think you see it. But I could also be very wrong. But as your best friend and your brother, I'm obligated to let you know that I like her. I really like her! I feel like she's really good for you."
----"Damnit you're cheating!!"
----"I am not! You can't cheat with this game! You're being a sore loser!" Seth and Annaleigh continued to argue.
"Thanks Joe. That means alot. But there's more to this."
"I know how you feel about marriage and kids. I also know how Annaleigh feels about it. At some point, the subject is going to brought up and I'd like for you to have an open mind about it. Especially this weekend with her friends getting engaged. There's going to be ALOT of talk about the matter. Just don't shut down."
I looked over at Annaleigh who was still asleep. I knew where Roman was coming from. I envisioned Anna in a wedding dress and she looked beyond beautiful. With her, the thought of marriage didn't seem so bad, but all in good time.
***Annaleigh's P.O.V***
"Babe wake up. We're here."
Groggy, I woke up to see that we were in Lubbock. It felt weird coming back but normal at the same time. We pulled in to Tyler's driveway and were greeted by Robert and Sharon Stone.
"Oh my gosh! Look at you guys! Anna, you're more beautiful than ever!" She said as she gave me a tight squeeze. "And who is this young man?"
"Mama Stone, this is my boyfriend Jonathan."
"Hi ma'am." Dean said shaking her hand.
"Hey there sweetness!" Mr. Stone said hugging me. "Who's the fella?" I introduced him to Jonathan, then Ian. They all seemed very impressed with Dean. Tyler's parents then went their son and Joe and met Summer and Emma.
"So who's hungry? Robert is hard at work on the grill. We're having fried chicken, potato salad, beans, corn on the cob, and rolls." Sharon said.
"Oh man that sounds amazing!" Dean said.
"It is." I winked.
We unpacked and settled in our rooms and gathered outside for dinner. The food was amazing! It had been a while since we all had a home cooked meal.
"So tell me, how is wrestling?" Sharon asked. I showed her my Divas title and she too cried just as much as I had. Then of course Robert played 20 questions with Dean, but he handled himself pretty well. After a few hours of talking and catching up Sharon asked,
"So what are y'all doing tonight?"
"Probably sleep mom." Tyler answered laughing.
"Nope!" Ian said. We all looked at him with funny expressions. "You guys are only here for 2 days and tomorrow you're Jacobs. So tonight it's my turn.
"Okay. What'd you have in mind?" Tyler asked.
"Main Event." He said with a smirk. "Then midnight volleyball in the pool."
"What's Main Event?" Dean asked.
"You'll see." I answered kissing his cheek.
(A/N- Main Event is this huge arcade place in Lubbock,Tx. They have laser tag, glow in the dark golf, bowling... etc.)
We arrived at Main Event and our first task was laser tag. It was Girls vs. Guys. Us ladies put up a really good fight if I say so myself, but the men won by a few hundred points. Eh. Big deal. Next we moved on to golf. I actually won that by a landslide! Jon demolished us at bowling, and now we were all playing arcade games.
"What's that?" Dean asked pointing to a machine that was moving in all kinds of directions.
"Oh my gosh! Come on!" I shouted grabbing him by the hand.
"What is it?" Summer asked.
"It's a virtual rollercoaster! You build your own track and then you get to ride it. I love it!"
"Well what are we waiting for? Let's do it!" Dean said smiling.
We all took turns riding the virtual ride. We all rode it so much that we got sick. We headed back to Tyler's house for midnight volleyball. The entire night was a blast! At first it was a pretty serious game of volleyball, and then it turned into a dunking war and chicken war. (Courtesy of me and Jon) we all played in the pool until 3:00 am. We all took turns taking a shower. I chose to shower last seeing as how I take the longest and hottest, plus I wanted to visit with Tyler's parents more.
"Jonathan seems like a nice young man." Sharon said smiling at me.
"Thank you. He really is sweet!"
"How's you two meet?"
"I bumped into him a few times. Literally." Sharon burst out laughing.
"That's one way to meet a guy!" I joined in her laughter.
"Where's he from?" Robert asked. I briefly told them a little about Jonathan.
"Wow! He's come a long way." She said patting my leg. I could tell something was wrong.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yes sweetheart. I'm very happy that you've found someone that cares about you... I guess that I was just hoping you and Tyler would eventually be together. You'd be perfect for him."
"Sharon..." Robert interrupted.
"I know, I know...I'm sorry. Truth is, you're perfect for any young man! Any guy would be lucky to have you. And Tyler seems to have found himself a nice young girl as well. I just want you guys to be happy is all. I hope you understand." She said with a sad smile.
"I do. I am. I promise." I assured her.
"Babe it's your turn." Dean said rubbing a towel through his hair. I really hope he didn't hear our conversation. I hurried and took a shower. The hot water felt good on my sore and tense muscles. I got done with my shower and crawled into bed with Dean.
"You smell good." He said smiling while sniffing my hair. I laughed and said,
"Thank you! Bedhead and Jergens lotion."
"Nice combo." He laughed sleepily.
"Did you have fun today?" I asked.
"Mmmhmmm." He replied. I knew he was falling asleep. I kissed him goodnight and snuggled into his chest. I fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
The next morning we awoke to the smell of breakfast being made.
"The food smells amazing but this bed feels so warm!" Dean said half asleep. I couldn't help but laugh.
"So you're willing to starve to stay warm?"
"Well when you say it like that..."
I laughed.
"What time is it?" He yawned.
I looked at the clock, "8:45 am."
"Damn." He said stretching.
"Annaleigh! Jonathan! Breakfast!" Sharon called. I groaned.
"Come on. We have to get up." I got up to head for the door but felt Jon grab my hand and pull me towards him.
"Kiss me." He demanded.
"Ew! Morning breath!" I joked as I tried getting free.
"Nope. Not until I get a kiss." I gave in and we headed downstairs and were greeted with sleepy hellos.
"Coffee Jon?" I asked.
"Silly question." I laughed and made Jon and I a cup.
"What time is Jacob proposing?" Joe asked yawning.
"7:00." Tyler answered.
"Well then we're extremely late."
"At night you idjit!" I said.
"Then why the hell are we up so damn early?!" Joe grumbled. Sharon slapped him in the arm.
"Language! Actually, Robert needs your boys' help with some stuff. Jonathan, do you mind helping?"
"Not at all ma'am."
"Thank you. Ladies, we're going shopping."
"Trade! I'l go shopping and you ladies can do yard work." Joe interrupted.
"You're not shopping with us! It's not shopping for fun. We have a few last minute things to get for tonight."
We all got ready for the day.
"Have fun babe! And thank you for helping!" I said hugging Dean.
"No problem sweetheart. Don't have too much fun shopping." He teased.
"I'll try not to. Don't get hurt!" I laughed.
"Never!" We kissed goodbye and went our seperate ways.
We arrived at the mall and Sharon gave us all assignments on what we needed to get. We planned on meeting at the food court in 3 hours. My list was very simple. My job was to get table top decorations. I already had a plan for it. I've known Lexi for about as long as I've known Jacob. Lexi fell in love with the shadow paintings and the Chinese Cherry blossom tree. She and I also had a fascination with sand art and pebbles. I knew exactly where to find all the supplies I needed and made my way towards Earthbound. After I paid for my items, I headed towards the food court, but on my way there I stopped and saw a beautiful dress that would be perfect for tonight's occasion! I gave in and bought it.
I met back with the group and told the girls my plan and they loved it! We headed back to the house and I started working on my project. 15 minutes in, I was so engrossed with my project that I didn't hear him come in. It wasn't until he wrapped his arms around me that I noticed him at all.
"Hey you!" I smiled.
"Hey princess. What are you working on?"
"My project for tonight." I said proudly.
"Cool. What is it?"
"Well Lexi went to China years ago and fell in love with the shadow drawings. So I'm making her tabletop decorations into shadow drawings."
"Wow! They look great! What's with the sand and pebbles?" I laughed.
"It's a fun, silly thing or ours. Just want her to know who made them."
"How many have you made so far?"
"6. But there needs to be 8. Why?"
"Well... the dinner is at Olive Garden."
"Are you kidding me?! I put so much thought in to this and much harder work trying to make them absolutely perfect!" I said almost in tears.
Dean laughed and kissed my cheek and laughed, "Princess it's fine. And very beautiful! You'll just... bring a little China to Italy is all." I couldn't help but laugh.
"So what'd you boys end up doing?" I asked.
"Oh! We uh... went paint balling."
"What?! That was the big project?!" I asked laughing.
"It was Jacobs Bachelor party." He shrugged.
I shook my head, "What? No strippers?"
"Hey I tried! But he kept refusing." We both shared a good laugh.
"Well..." He yawned. "I don't know about you but I'm taking a nap."
"Right behind you." I said.
I woke up in enough time to get ready and go set up for the dinner later that night. The men showed up an hour later.
"Wow! You look incredible!" Dean said wide eyed. I blushed.
"Thank you."
"There the two loved birds are!" Joe cried out. I smacked him on the arm.
"Ow! What?!"
"He Hans't proposed yet Captain Obvious! Lay low on the whole love bird thing!"
"Crap! I forgot!"
"Yea! You think?" Dean and Emma laughed.
"Anna! It's so good to see you! I've missed you!" She said as we hugged. "And this must be Jonathan! I've heard so much about you!" She said shaking Dean's hand.
The dinner was perfect and Jacobs proposal was the sweetest and very heartwarming! I had tears of joy as Lexi cried and said yes. I'm really glad I got to share this moment with my friends and amazing boyfriend! Nothing could go wrong now!
