He sat by a rock underneath a cherry blossom tree. Clad in a white robe, Percy caught sight of me. We stared at each other from a distance. Silence was a familiar friend.

And then I felt my chest exploding with passion. I ran to him. My jaw quivered and my throat felt dry. I couldn't speak. There were no words to describe how I felt.

I was in his arms and suddenly everything was right. I could smell the ocean on his neck. I felt his hair. His ears. His nose. His mouth.

I locked in every detail I could of him. The way the insides of his arms were hairless. The way his eyes fluttered when he took deep breaths. The way his breath smelled like rotten fish as I pressed my lips against his.

"You don't know how much I've missed you," he said. Percy pulled back and wiped the tears off my face. "There's no Elysium without you."

The tears streaming down my face could not stop. Every time I opened my mouth, I could taste nothing but salt.

"You have no fucking idea what you're talking about," I replied.

"Tell me about it," he said. and then with a small laugh, "I'm serious. Please tell me all about how much you've missed me." 

I never felt as safe as I did with Percy's arms around me then. I wanted to stay like that forever.

Then we tripped and fell into the soft grass, his face right above mine. I was in this position before, but with Percy, I was safe. Safe.

I spent so much of my life guarding myself against people in fear. I never felt safe. But with Percy, I was so vulnerably invulnerable.

Percy smiles. He kissed me gently and I tasted his salty tears as well.

"I'm so happy you're here. There's so much to show you."
