I spill my coffee in hearing these very words.
"What?!"
I look at Jonathan dumbfounded. My eyes are wide open, and my mouth ajar.
"Have I heard well?"
I blink several times before any word could come out from my mouth.
Khawla: I beg your pardon?
Nielson: I want you in the Figure Skating team, Ms. Khawla Jones.
Khawla: But I... I... I don't figure skating for years now! I'm not fit, and I'm totally distrained. This without counting that I'm too old if compared to the other athletes. Sorry, Professor Nielson, but you have to search for somebody else.
Jonathan doesn't seem happy with my answer, and it shows, as clear as crystal, that he wouldn't accept a no as an answer. I can see that he's determined to keep Mystery Spell University on the top five this year too, and that, in his opinion, I would be the only person capable of doing so. He shakes his head from one side to another, rejecting my excuse.
Nielson: Once a queen, always a queen, Ms. Jones. I've seen the videos of your presentations. I've requested them from your previous University to check your differential. You have an inborn talent to figure skating. It's inside of you.
Is he serious? Does he think that I'll accept his invitation just because he's complimenting me? Well, that I have an inborn talent is true since I'm a Druidess, which always has given me a clear advantage over my opponents in the Championships. Yes, I haven't played fair all these years in my previous College. But the end justifies the means, right?
Khawla: Professor Nielson, I feel flattered by your comments, but I'm out of shape and distrained. And to be able to achieve a competitive level again, it would take a year or two. I can't do it in less than four months.
Nielson: I'm sure you'll be able to be ready to compete and to classify Mystery Spell University in the top five this year as well, Ms. Jones.
Khawla: Maybe, but only maybe it would be possible to classify only among the top ten, not top five, if I could dedicate my days to it, but, unfortunately, I can't, as I work to the Bartholys during the afternoons to pay for my studies.
Nielson: I can offer you an athlete scholarship, so, you don't need to work to pay for your studies and bills.
I hate to be that kind of person that sees a problem to each solution, but this invitation is out of the question at all. I have to remove this idea from Jonathan's mind. Where in the hell could he think about me as an athlete and be able to win any championship? Doesn't he know that I've already gotten sick and ended up at the hospital twice since the beginning of the year and we aren't yet even in the midterm exams?
Khawla: But I also live with them, and I take care of their little sister too. I can't let them down.
Nielson: I also can give you a flat at the Campus. It isn't a problem at all. So, you don't have to keep living with them. About their little sister, they can find a nanny. It isn't that complicated.
"Not that complicated?! If he only knows..."
I let out a long annoyed sigh. We're in a power dispute right now. The Principal is determined to make me join the Figure Skating team, and I'm determined not to join it. He can't force me to do something I don't want to. It's harassment, and it's also against the code of ethics of Mystery Spell University as much as a Professor dating his student.
