Chapter 29 - Our first kiss

Sebastian and I arrive very early. Good! I don't want to be in the main trending of the gossips. I mean, not with Sebastian, as I'm sure I'm already the main topic again.

"By the way, what happened in the party?"

I can't remember much. I think I don't remember anything...

I head to the cafeteria to wait for Sarah, and Sebastian goes to the teachers' area. It doesn't take long to Sarah arrive with her usual good mood for early mornings. I'm feeling wholly apathetic, depressed and in the peak of my chronicle morning bad mood.

Sarah: I was worried about you! You disappeared the whole weekend!

I lie. I can't tell her that I spent the weekend at Sebastian's and we weren't even dating.

Khawla: I was recovering from my hangover.

Okay, we can't call it a lie.

Sarah: I've noticed you've drunken too much. You weren't being yourself.

"What does she mean?"

I begin to worry.

Khawla: How wasn't I being me?

Sarah: You don't remember?

Khawla: No...

I start to panic. I don't even remember how I ended up at Sebastian's! I think I'll ask him after class.

Sarah tells me everything that happened, and after each of the events, I widen even more my eyes: that we danced, but I didn't stop once; that I seemed a little bit hallucinated; that we kissed each other to tease the boys and that I was in heated moments with Loan and his friend till Samantha showed up. Good that she didn't know about Sebastian and didn't see him either.

I'm in shock! What I did was far worse than what I'm used to do! I finish drinking my coffee in silence visibly embarrassed and stunned, and Sarah is bursting into laughter in seeing me in such a state because I'm never embarrassed! It's something new to her.

We go to our Myth & Legends' amphitheater. Professor Jones is late for his class, and he's never late. The students start to look at each other wondering where he is. It's odd. We've arrived very early. What's going on?

Sarah: Where is Professor Jones? He isn't used to be late.

Khawla: I know he's in the university. I've seen him when I arrived.

Okay. I don't need to tell her that we arrived together. I'm not able to explain anything, mainly because I don't remember.

Professor Jones enters the amphitheater with 15 minutes of lateness. He climbs the platform, sets his materials on the table and goes to the microphone. His gaze is intense on me, making me feel ablaze.

Sebastian: Hello, everyone! Sorry for my lateness, but I was in a meeting with our Principal.

I freeze.

Sebastian: We've noticed that in the campus parties there are some substance usage and some abuse of alcohol. Because of this, we decided that this week will be the Drugs Awareness Week and we invite all of you to be part of it.

I'm dumbfounded. Well, not only me but all the students. They murmur between them in shock. Sarah and I exchange enquiring looks. Sebastian starts to distribute flyers fresh printed to the students. When he approaches our desk, he gives me a meaningful looking while handing over the flyers to Sarah and me.
