Chapter 31

Third POV

[We've made it to the campsite. Everyone talked for a little while and then head to their stations. I went straight to where the dance was happening and met up with my crew. And by crew, I mean my brothers. Turns out that Fourth was caught impersonating the rest of us which lead all of us to be together]

Fifth: I don't want to do this. I rather be studying.

Fourth: This kind of boring.

Third: Well this is your fault! Come one. Let's get to work.

First: So how does this work?

Fifth: I guess we decide on how the logs should look and what song we'll choose.

Fourth: Fifth and I can handle the wood! He's smart and I got energy!

[Fourth pulled Fifth away. I looked at First]

Third: I guess we choose the music.

First: I guess so.

Third: Any ideas?

[We brainstormed song after song. I was determined to avoid seeing the girls for a little while. Well, until I finish my end. But I was going to use this trip as an opportunity to figure out which girl was in my photo. That girl must be the most important to me since she was in mine. As First and I are brainstorming, I see Nino surrounded by a couple of boys. I feel like we've been in this place before]

Boy #1: So, do you want to dance with us?

Nino: I'm sorry but I'm not interested.

Boy #2: Don't tell me that you believe in that dumb legend.

Nino: Well I do and I don't want to dance with you.

Boy #1: Are you saying that we're not good enough?

Nino: No. I'm just saying that I'm not interested.

Boy #2: We're not good enough. Is that it? Well...we have ways to change your mind!

Nino: Leave me alone! Someone help me!

[Nino looks and sees me]

Nino: Third, save me!

[As if it were like a movie, I had a flashback to when I saved that girl in this similar situation]

[Flashback]

Boy #1: Come on. Let's get ice cream.

Boy #2: Don't be scared!

Girl: I already said "no"!

[I was standing next to Sixth when this was going down]

Sixth: Go and save her.

Third: What do I do?

Sixth: Go be like one of your video games characters.

Third: I can't do that.

[The girl looks at me]

Girl: Third, save me!

[My body moved on its own]

Third: She said "no". Walk away.

Boy #1: Why should we?

Girl: Because I already promised to go get ice cream with him!

Third: Walk away now before things get messy.

[I give them an intimidating look. They grunt and then walk away]

Third: You okay?

Girl: I am now.

[End of flashback]

[My body moved on its own]

Third: She said "no". Walk away.

Boy #1: Why should we?

Nino: Because I already promised to dance with him!

[I was completely shocked. Nino pulled the same move that girl did]

Third: Walk away now before things get messy.

[I give them an intimidating look. They grunt and then walk away]

Third: You okay?

Nino: I am now.

[I just stared at Nino. Was Nino the girl in the photo?]

Nino: Why are you staring at me?

Third: I feel like I've been in this situation before. Except it was boys asking you to ice cream.

[Nino's eyes widen]

Nino: You remember that?

[I smile]

Third: I do.

Nino: Listen. You don't have to dance with me. But I really want you to.

Third: Does the dance mean that much to you?

Nino: Of course it does. When the music stops, I want to be holding your hand. Then we'll be together forever.

[I just looked at her completely shocked]

Nino: You did promise to marry me after all.

Third: Yeah. I did.

Nino: I'm not making you dance with me. But I really want you to.

[Nino kisses my cheek and then walks away]

Third: It was Nino, huh?

[I just smile to myself and breathe a sigh of relief. I finally found the girl who was in the photo. I could rest easy. I was wrong. So very wrong. Things were going to get a lot more complicated. This was far from over]
