Chapter 23

"Can I take the car?"

"Yeah. Where are you going?"

"Luke's." I grabbed the keys from my dad's and and my purse off the counter.

"You sound like your in school again."

"I wish." I walked out the front door and to the car.

I toke out the key Luke gave me to his mums place and opened up the door.

"Mum!" I walked into the living room and Ben was sitting on the floor fixing something.

"Whatcha doin Benny?" He looked up at me and squinted his eyes.

"I'm gonna pretend I'm not seeing things."

"Fuck you too Ben. Where's mum?"

"Doing laundry I think. Ok now I think I've gone crazy." I shook my head and walked towards the laundry room. She was changing out the wash so I decided to sneak up on her.

"Hey mum." I lightly touched her shoulders and she jumped backwards.

"Lydia!" She hit me on the arm with one of the dish towels in her hand.

"Hi." I smiled at her like I was a child trying to get out of trouble, which was something me and Luke did all the time when we were in high school.

"Come here." She pulled me into a tight hug.

"I really thought I was going crazy." We both turned around and looked at Ben.

"You are crazy."

"I'm not the one dating and having a baby with Luke."

"Yes and thank goodness for that son." I laughed at bens confused face and Liz took the laundry into the living room.

"Where's Jack and dad?"

"Dad's at work and Jacks at home probably."

"Is he coming home for Sunday dinner?"

"Yeah I think so. Are you?"

"Yeah unless I go into labour." I sat down on the couch next to Ben.

"Let's hope that, that doesn't happen so soon."

"Yeah."

"When's your due date?"

"January 3rd."

"Oh so they're gonna be New Years babies."

"I hope so. That's a cool birthday."

"Are they kicking?"

"They don't stop. Do you want to feel?"

"Yes." I grabbed Bens outstretched hand and put it on a spot that one of them was kicking me.

"Oh my god!" Liz came and sat on the other side of me so she could feel it too.

"Do you know which one is which?"

"Yeah the only one awake right now is Logan."

"I can't wait to meet them."

"Me either. Mostly just to get them out of me."

"Wait until you have to push them out, then you'll want them to stay in."

"Eww mum now I have that image in my head." Ben got up and walked out the room.

"How's Luke?"

"He's good just always worried. He almost didn't let me get on the plane by myself."
