It has been about a year and this whole world is destroyed. Even though the criminals didn't know it the future of Earth depended on them. Since Elsa 's death Pitch has used the opportunity of weakness pouring out of the criminals to cause destruction. The world at this point is destroyed but it might not be to late. If the criminals manage to get help from someone important they could save everyone. Maybe even more.
