Secret Affairs
Oasis's POV
Oasis gazes through the window, presenting a rainy morning. She no longer feels the stares of people on her. She no longer feels scared. Instead, she feels angry. She glares at her injured fingers. Luckily, it was only her two pinky fingers so it wouldn't handicap her too much to the point she'd be unable to fight.
I'm supposed to be the leader, but I'm relying on my teammate to carry all the team's weight? In fact, barely anyone in the team has said a word to Phoenix besides Amethyst. And it's only because they are roommates.
Scoffing at herself, she scratches the desk with her nails without realizing. The students around her turn to look at her, including Jian, annoyed with the high-pitched noise.
"Are you okay?" Jian mouths to Oasis without making a sound. He notices Oasis's face is scarier than usual. Oasis notices Jian staring at her, worried, so she smiles to calm him down.
"Don't worry." Oasis mouths back.
I can't cause anymore trouble for people.
After half an hour, the class ends and Oasis takes a walk before heading to her class.
But because of that one decision she hears very important news.
With Oasis's back on the wall outside the washroom, she listens to two students gossiping with each other inside.
She eavesdrops, making sure not to miss any little piece of information.
"Why is Serena even in the student council? She's such an ass. Earlier today, she kept mocking me for the way I walked."
Annoyed and frustrated, a student kicks the wall in anger.
"It's cause the student president's mom is the Vice Principal. But there's something even weirder about the Principal but I can't put my tongue on it." With a perplexed look, her friend leans on the wall, crossing his arms.
The bell rings.
"We should get to class now."
Oasis rushes to her classroom before she gets caught. But today, unlike other days, she made progress.
Instead of idling around, she can help Phoenix.
No, she will help Phoenix.
________
The bell rings, signifying that it's lunch time.
"Oasis, let's eat lunch?" Jian offers Oasis since they haven't eaten together since the first day of school. They both usually sit with their teams.
Even if Oasis wants to go, she declines and decides to skip lunch.
"Sorry, I need to do something. Maybe next time." She lies, knowing well that they probably won't since she will get Phoenix back. Jian nods allowing her but still is unsatisfied with her answer.
Hurrying past people standing by in the halls, she arrives at the vice principal's office.
She knocks but no one answers. Oasis notices that the lights are turned off in the room.
Maybe she's at the Principal's Office.
She shudders as she remembers what the girls said. There is something off about the Principal, but the girls don't know what.
Oasis does not know either. She heads over to the door nearby and knocks on the white metal door. The sounds of footsteps becomes louder each second, signifying that the person inside is heading closer.
The door opens to reveal a tall guy handsome guy with black hair and red eyes, wearing rimless rectangle glasses. His clothes revealed a black blazer over a berry red shirt with a black tie.
