Chapter 12

Phoenix

"Everyone was summoned to the auditorium without an explanation, what do you think is happening?" Sticking to Phoenix like glue, Amethyst ponders as the team heads to the auditorium. Taking seats nearby on white portable chairs, they watch as the student council presents themselves on the stage.

"Hello, students of Verdant Academy, I have an important announcement to make." Aluna says, fixing her hair.

"As the Student Body President, I make decisions that will benefit the entire school body. With the intentions to do so, I will resign from my title as President for my last action." Standing behind a podium, she states in front of the whole school. Behind her are each of the student council members.

What is she thinking?

"We will hold a new election tomorrow lasting numerous days. A new election that will be held by a series of tournaments; with only the top 50 teams to participate. The person that ends up in first place will be able to choose the council members." Aluna explains clearly and thoroughly, making sure no one in the whole audience misses a word.

That would mean if I won for example, I could choose any person. Is it permitted to choose someone out of your team? Not like I have any other friends anyways.

"I've had my fun." Aluna smiles, satisfied with her time. "We will now take our leave. You may return to your classes as normal." Each of the student council bows as the students leave the auditorium slowly.

Serena

"You've became weak, Aluna." The door slams closed as the last student leaves the auditorium. Serena fixes her posture after bowing for quite a while.

Aluna stands soon afterwards and turns to look at Serena.
"I haven't become weak. I've simply become in control of myself." She smiles, satisfied with her decision.

"Maybe it would be better if you were still a dog of your mother." Serena clicks her tongue, rolling her eyes soon afterwards in deep disappointment.

"Ooo, the drama! I never thought you would be fighting with Serena hehe!"  Xyra chuckles, excited from the dispute.

"Sometimes I wonder why I ever appointed someone as incompetent as you as enforcerer." Annoyed, Aluna spews our from her mouth, dissing her.

Soon afterwards, Serena quickly grasps onto her whip, preparing to fight. However, before she could pull it out, Aluna places a paper on her in a quick flash.

"Freeze." She whispers, freezing her from movement in an instant.

Aluna draws her head closer to Serena's face.
"The one who resorts to violence first is the weaker one."

"Since when were you ever were so vanilla!? You've become so boring these days!" Shouting out of desperation for her pride, she glares at Aluna.

"Aluna, that's enough. We don't have to pay attention to her." Xyphia acts as a wall between the two, facing Aluna.

"Oh so it was her all along? Xyphia, I never knew you were so annoying. I had expected you to be at least bearable compared to Xyra." Glaring daggers at Xyphia, Serena scoffs annoyed by everything.

"Awww, you love me Serena!" Xyra giggles, angering Serena furthermore. Disgusted, Serena raises her eyebrow, rolling her eyes soon after.

Whatever. With or without you, I will get Student Body President.

Determined, Serena grips tightly onto her hand, storming off with fire in her eyes.

Oasis

Oasis sits on a bed inside the infirmary alone as the birds around her chirp. The afternoon sun shines onto her and her bandages placed onto her, She ponders, bringing her legs together, hugging herself. She remembers the pain she went through with Serena. After the situation ended, she fainted abruptly.

Suddenly, she starts shaking as she recalls what happened.

I didn't know highschool life would be this scary. Moreover, I'm lonely.

Suddenly the door slams open, revealing a sweat ridden Jian breathing heavily. He brushes his wet hair to the side of his head and makes his way towards Oasis.

"Are you okay? I heard what happened from Callista. Did Serena hurt you?" Placing his palm on her bed, he gazes at her extremely worried.

Barely speaking, she manages to say yes, nodding her head, eyes contracted.

I can't even speak, how am I so weak?

"This is why I can't leave you alone! You're always getting into trouble." Frustrated, he sighs heavily, shocked with what she's been through even only after a few weeks.

Shut up... you're always underestimating me.

"That's why we should've been in the same team. Oasis, you know how badly worried I am for you!" With tiredly worried eyes, he explains to Oasis.

It's not like I asked you to be worried for me...

Oasis lifts her head and smiles. "I know. I thank you for that. I don't know where I'd be without you." She says a white lie. Jian believes her. He always does.

I can't handle this humiliation. This is what she had in stored after humiliating me. She will pay.
