Chapter 13

The Peculiar New Students

Serena's POV
Serena stares at her stained desk as people around her laugh.

This is karma. I know how society works. After you lose power, you lose popularity.

She's angry, angry at Aluna that she lost her title as the enforcer.

"Incompetent, weak, bitch, whore"

She reads the graffiti over and over, trying to keep her cool. It reminds her of bad things-it reminds her of her past.

~3 years ago~

"I feel bad for her partner, I bet she feels so bad having to work with the weakest one in the school." Chuckling, Serena's classmate whispers, loud enough for her to hear.

"Whatever, that's her loss. Let's just stay away from her. Maybe her weakness is contagious." With no intention to talk secretly, she says with a loud and clear tone.

Serena tries to block out the insults from her classmates. There are times when she wish she was deaf, one of the times including now. However, it is only a piece of her life. When she is at school, it is merely a break from her family.

Present day

Serena holds her bullwhip, admiring it. She ponders, anticipating for revenge. She once again stares at the writing on her desk. She recalls that she once was afraid of being bullied. But at this moment, she enjoys it, taking it all in as she knows she will and is determined to get her revenge.

This once used to be my kingdom. But I'll take it back. I always do.

"Class, I would like to introduce two new students.".

"Huh? Isn't it an unusual time to introduce new students? It's already the last class of the day." A student questions, tilting her head.

"Yes, however, they were late so now the introductions will have to begin now." Entering the classroom, two peculiar students arrive.

A boy with brown hair and kind orange eyes enters the room, wearing a gold casual collared jacket along with black jeans. A girl follows behind, long black hair with sea blue eyes, wearing a white one-buttoned jacket with a white futuristic dress under. Her white heels tap on the floor until she stops, standing beside him, facing everyone.

The contrasts between the two students is their expressions. The boy keeps a happy and excited face while the girl keeps a calm resting bitch face, seeming like she does not want to be there.

Serena smiles, excited to meet the new blood. Serena turns to look at the students with excited faces. However, Jian's expression says so differently.

"Ooh, cheating on Oasis while she's gone are you?" Sarcastically, Serena says, mocking Jian. Jian does not reply and continues to look at the girl, shocked.

Well whatever. These new blood will be my teammates in the round since they're probably only a duo along with me and Xyra.

Phoenix's POV

Phoenix and her sit team on chairs beside Oasis's beds along with Jian present. They all worry for Oasis unanimously. However, Jian keeps an afflicted face.

"Jian what's wrong?" Oasis turns to look at Jian standing in the sidelines.

"Oh.. nothing really. By the way Oasis, we have transfer students. Their names are Lunar and Sol." Jian says, still pondering about something.

"Oh okay, I wonder who they are..." Positively, Oasis comments.

"Can you still participate in the tournament is the real question, Oasis." With a serious face, Phoenix asks without sugar coating her words.

"Of course!" Oasis keeps a determined face. "Some shock isn't going to make me bring down the team!" Holding her hand into a fist, she says with a serious face.

"Are you sure?" Jian asks with a worried face.

"At this point, I feel like you guys are underestimating me." With a disappointed face, she looks at each one of their eyes.

"You were the one who ended up here." With blunt words, she says, not even trying to filter her sentence into being a bit nicer.

Suddenly, Oasis leaves her bed, standing up and looking at Phoenix. "It's not my fault I tried to save you! It was too stressful for me..." She shouts, obviously hurt.

"If you're going to act like that under pressure, you're not going to get anywhere like that." Phoenix says, with an annoyed tone.

"That's not true..." Oasis looks to Jian for support. However, it seems like his mind is too preoccupied with things to the point that he is not paying attention to their conversation.

"See, you can't even defend yourself to the point you ask Jian for help. Being weak like this will only bring down the team." Phoenix rants, hurting Oasis furthermore.

"Maybe it is better for you to be the quiet kid in the group. Who knew that words that comes out of your mouth would be this annoying!" Oasis escapes out into the hallway, angry and hurt.

"Phoenix, you went too far." Following Oasis, Callista comments.

"Oh my god, this is just amazing!" Amethyst says, sarcastically.

Maybe I was too harsh..?
