14. Keeping Cool

Natalia's POV

Yesterday was so weird with Benny. He was acting so strange around me. Maybe he's on drugs? He should slide some then. Whatever he's on I just hope he's doing okay. I don't like things being awkward between us.

Right now I'm walking out of my room wearing a green Raglan and Navy blue jeans. I was also wearing my Babe Ruth jersey, I didn't button it up all the way, and my signature black converse. I did my hair in a ponytail today because apparently it's 97 degrees outside. I put on a green bandana on and head out with my baseball glove. The cold air coming from the air conditioner hits my face.

"Morning ma." I say to my mother who was in the living room watching television. She turns around to look at me.

"Natalia, you're going out right now in this hot weather?" She asks sounding very concerned.

"I guess but I'll be fine." I say. I go to the fridge and take out a cold water bottle.

She stands up and goes to the kitchen where she's making an omelet.

The home phone then rings and I go get it. "I'll get it!" I scream. 

"Hello?" I ask, still holding my water bottle on one hand and the phone on the other.

"Hey, kid wassup?" Asks Cole. I laugh and shake my head.

"Nothing much. I was just about to go play some ball." I say.

"Don't you think it's too hot outside?" He asks me. I roll my eyes.

"Yeah but I don't think there are other things we can do right now other than play baseball." I say. I wipe the sweat off my forehead and fan myself.

"Oh, did you know that your sister and I got jobs at the community pool?!" He says. I laugh and I try to balance my water bottle on my head.

"No need to brag man and no she hasn't told me." I say. He chuckles and I finally balanced the water bottle.

"I wasn't bragging. What I'm saying is, since today Luna and I are working, we can go to the pool." He suggest.

"Oh okay well then I'll think about it if Benny and the guys agree to go. Let me call Luna so you can talk to her." I say. "Luna! Get your ugly ass here!" I scream.

I hear Cole chuckle. "I'm coming damn it." She screams back and she comes down the stairs. She was dressed in a red bathing suit and light blue jeans shorts over it.

"It's for you." I wave the phone at her face. She pushes me and the water bottle that was on my head is now on the floor.

I pick it up and smack her with it. "Rude ass bitch." I say. I walk away and sit at the dining room table.

Luna then comes and sits down. I pout and turn my head away from her.

"What's your problem?" She asks. I didn't answer. This is a thing we do, it's not really that serious and I'm not actually mad at her. "Is it because I didn't tell you about me having a job?" She says.

"No, it's because you made the water bottle fall off my head." I cross my arms and try not to laugh. I hear her giggle and I just burst out laughing. I could never stay mad at her not even for 1 minute.
