16. Frenemy

I woke up lazy to go anywhere today but then remembered Claire was coming today. I groan and then go to the bathroom and took a quick shower. While getting out of the bathroom I go to my closet and find something casual to wear. I found a white button down shirt with red high waisted bermuda shorts and decided to wear that. I put on my black converse, since it's kinda the only thing I own, and go to my vanity. I open the drawers to find my favorite red bandana but couldn't find anything.

"Where is the god damn thing." I say. I couldn't find it anywhere. I close the drawer and go to Luna's room.

Her room was two doors down from mine. I walk there and I hear voices coming from in her room. To make sure I knock on the door before I walk into something I don't want to see.

I hear her groan and she gets up. "What do you need?" She asks.

"Who are you talking to?" I ask. I try to peak in to see and she just pushes my face to the side.

"I'm just on the phone with Cole. Now will you tell me what you need?" She asked again, impatient.

"Yeah do you have my red bandana?" I push her out of the way and invited myself in her room.

She just stares at me with her arms crossed and rolls her eyes. "It's in the bathroom."

"How dare you just snatch my red bandana like that!" I say. She shruggs and goes back on the phone with Cole.

"Sorry about that Cole it's just Nati asking for her bandana, nothing important." She says. My jaw drops and my eyes widen.

"Excuse me!" I yell. She laughs and covers one end of the phone with her hand.

"You are excused." She mimicked.

"Rude bitch." I say and head out the door. I go the the bathroom in search for my red bandana.

I open the door and look around. I go in and there was my bandana sitting on the counter. Score! I grab it and go to my room. I grab my telephone and take it to the vanity, then I sit down. I dial Benny's house's phone number to tell him that I won't be able to go to the sandlot today.

It rings and someone finally picks up. "Rodriguez residence." I hear a female voice, it was Katie.

"Hey Katie." I say.

"Oh, hi Natalia! Need anything?" She asks me.

"Yeah can you pass the phone to Benny. I need to talk to him." I say. There was a long pause. I was getting concerned but then Katie speaks up.

"Yeah hold on." She says. I play with the cord of the telephone.

"Hello." I hear Benny say. I stop playing with the cord and put the phone on my shoulder.

"Hey Benny boy" I say. I start putting the bandana on.

"Morning Señorita, is anything the matter?" He asks very concerned. I giggle and finished tying the bandana.

"No everything is fine. It's just that I won't be able to go to the sandlot today." I say. I remove the phone from my shoulder.

"May I ask why?" He asks. I hold the phone close to my ear.

"Well you see Claire, the annoying little—I mean the very joyful person she is, is going to take me somewhere." I say not mentioning anything about Claire's friend. I try to maintain myself from calling her any rude names because I don't want Benny to prove his point that I dislike Claire by any chance.
