It was a chill Wednesday night at the café. Work was slow, as it had been snowing so much. Your manager hooked up the jukebox, letting some music flow. You tied up your hair, and walked over to the counter,

"Can you take care of table 6?" asked, Mimi.

You looked over at your customers before nodding.

As you approached the table, you took note of the spiked haired male you loved so much. Yami was typing away on his laptop. Not before long he spotted you, sending you a small smile,

"Good evening (y/n)"

You smiled,

"What brings you here tonight Yami?"

He looked pretty tired if you had to say so. His eyes were a bit dim from their daily shine,

"I actually came to see you. I wanted to ask if you were free Saturday night?"

You actually worked Saturday night, but you didn't mind to call off of work. Your boss was pretty lenient. You couldn't fight off the heat that had arisen on your cheeks. Yami rubbed his neck sheepishly. He was shy about asking you on a date. This was your first official date. It was finally time for him to tell you how he felt. At this point, you had known each other for about 2 years now. Both of you looked like a bunch of love-struck teenagers,

"Y-yes. I would love to!"

You quickly took his order before picking up his meal. Mimi who had witnessed everything from the back counter smirked in satisfaction,

"I see you're finally gonna get it on with Mr. loverboy huh?"

You playfully smacked the girl before picking up your order for Yami,

"Yep. I'm so ready for it"

Mimi watched you walk back to him. The way he looked at you when you spoke was surreal. He sure did love you. Yami decided to stay for a bit longer. You laughed at his cuteness before getting back to work. You glanced at the clock realizing it was 9:35 pm. You would go home soon.

As you tightened up your apron, a man greeted you,

"Hello (y/n)! How are you?"

You quietly stared at the male. He looked familiar to you but you couldn't pinpoint who he was. He chuckled before smiling,

"I don't look the same as I used to, but I'm Haru, we went to school together?"

You gasped in realization. Haru was a boy you had a crush on in 5th grade. His big blue eyes and his black hair were all familiar to you now,

"Haru it's great to see you! It's been so long oh my!"

You hugged the man gleefully, he carefully hugged you back, not wanting to make you uncomfortable,

"I'm sorry I looked at you like that"

He chuckled,

"With that gaze of yours, you almost scared me away"

"What can I say it's my resting face"

You both laughed. Haru grew handsomely. His bangs covered one of his eyes, but his spiked hair made up for it,

"How have you been? You've grown beautifully"

You slightly flushed from your cheeks in color,

"I've been well, how about you? I remember you were so adorable!"

Haru was very short. Shorter than you in fifth grade. He was your first little love. The male before you smiled,

"Those were some good times. I've been working for Kaiba Corp"

"That's a major coincidence, I work for Muto Corporations....and here"

He looked at you surprised as he sipped from his glass. You spoke,

"We should catch up again one of these days, it'd be nice"

Haru stepped closer to you,. He leaned down to your eye level,

"Why don't we catch up now?"

"She can't at the moment"

Spoke a familiar baritone voice. In those words, slight hatred was laced. You looked up finding Yami. And he was not happy. His jaw was clenched, accentuating his features. The sharpness could now be seen from the intensity of the lights reflecting from the windows. His eyes glinted dangerously in a shade of red.

"Y-Yami! You surprised me. How was your meal?"

You rubbed your sweaty hands on your skirt. You couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by him. He looked incredibly pissed. His usual poker face was on full display for Haru, who hadn't seemed to pick up on anything, but for you, it was a different story. You knew this man well.

"It was great. Can I speak to you for a moment?"

Yami was irritated with the male you were talking to. He didn't like the fact that he made you smile and laugh. He felt a bit upset inside as he wanted to be the one to do that. He wanted to be the one to make you happy.

You smiled sheepishly,

"Of course"

You said your goodbyes to Haru before telling him your number which he saved right away. Yami carefully held your hand as he led you back to his table. He didn't want to scare you or anything,

"Can you tell me who that was? I'm just curious"

His eyes held such intensity, it felt as if he was dueling. You knew Yami was holding back from raging. You've never seen him upset, but his actions do tell a lot,

"He's a childhood friend of mine"

You decided to play fire with fire. You smirked,

"Why? Are you jealous or something?"

Yami lowered his gaze to the floor. The expression he held didn't reveal anything to you. It was unfamiliar to you. You wondered what exactly he was thinking and feeling. The room was painfully silent for a few seconds before he looked up. His eyes had faded back into a hue of purple mixed with magenta. It felt as if the dark aura he held, faded off.

Yami was not going to reveal how he felt just yet. He attempted to calm himself down before resolving his emotions. He would make up something similar to a lie as a response for you. Right now was not the time to admit his jealousy,

"I'm just worried about you (y/n). After the 'incident' took place, I wanted to keep you safe. I want you to be alright"

You sighed at Yami's heartfelt comment. He didn't like revealing things like this, so you knew it was hard for him,

"I know you are Yami. I truly appreciate your efforts. You mean so much to me it's crazy. Although I love how overprotective you are over me, I'm a big girl Yami. I can take care of myself"

Yami nodded before sitting down. He raked a hand through his hair before putting his head in his hands. You walked over wrapping an arm around him, softly kissing his cheek before whispering,

"I just want you to know, that no one could ever replace you"

You stood up walking out of the room and back to the counter.

When you left, Yami softly touched his cheek, in an attempt to hold onto the feeling of your lips on him. He would have to confess soon. A beautiful woman like you didn't deserve a mess like this.

Little did he know, you were fine waiting on him. You've never been in love, and he was the first to truly make you feel it.
