Growth

Wrapping your apron around your waist, you turned and stood before the customers. As it was Monday, the day went by very slow. Your shift typically lasted from 6 pm to 9 pm on weekdays, except on Fridays. The weekends were also a different story. You worked, earning the majority of your income on those specific days. You were pulled from your thoughts when Liz, the newest waitress, began walking to you,

"Hey (y/n) can you take care of table six? I have my hands full at the moment"

You glanced at your only customers, checking if they had everything they needed before turning,

"Sure"

You felt your legs aching from all the walking. As you walked closer, you realized it was Yami and Yugi Muto! You haven't had the pleasure of meeting the youngest of the two, and having your two bosses see you like this made you feel a bit uncomfortable. You briefly watched them as Yugi allowed a smile to grace his features. Yami looked down happily at his brother before conversing once more. You mentally prepared yourself for what was to come,

"Good evening Mr. Muto and.... well Mr. Muto"

You rubbed your arm sheepishly. You've only been there for a few seconds and you had already managed to embarrass yourself again. Yugi and Yami both looked up. Yugi smiled widely at you. The gleam in his eyes creating a small twinkle. He was so adorable. The oldest of the two had his arms splayed out on both sides of the booth. Yami held a relaxed expression before greeting you quietly.

There, you took note of how stoic and calm Yami was compared to his brother.

Yami was a bit surprised by your presence. He did not expect to see you on such short notice. He didn't mind it though. He actually felt somewhat fond of you. Almost as if he's met you before...,

"Hello, You must be (y/n). I'm sorry for canceling the interview earlier, I had a few things to take care of"

Yugi held a hand out for you to shake. You briefly shook hands, all while feeling stunned. He looked very young for his age. Yugi was so adorable you couldn't help but let a grin take over your features,

"Hello, Mr. Muto. It is so nice to finally meet you"

The young male laughed softly,

"Please call me Yugi. There's no need for formalities around me. It's a surprise to find you here! I thought I would see you tomorrow?"

Yami and Yugi aimed their gazes at you awaiting your response. Yugi seemed to be curious, but Yami seemed to be skeptical of finding you here,

"I will be at work tomorrow. I just happen to work at this bar. Now that my jobs are closer to each other its much more efficient this way"

Yami glanced at you from the corner of his eye before looking down at his menu again,

"If I may ask, why do you work two jobs? Surely it must be very tiring."

Yugi looked at his brother as they shared an amusing staring contest before he shoved him slightly,

"Yami you can't just say something like that"

You chuckled at Yami's bluntness and Yugi's attempt to protect you,

"It's totally fine. I work two jobs as I am a college student. Girls gotta make money"

You shrugged your shoulders creating a laugh from the brothers,

"We understand. Please take care of yourself (y/n). The last thing we need is one of our best workers fainting"

A faint blush took over your cheeks before you smiled kindly at Yami,

"Of course. Now, what can I get you two?"

You felt strange about how semi-casually you spoke to your bosses, but they seemed okay with it. The two quickly ordered before you walked off. Yugi decided you were a great person. A hard-working, kind and sweet soul. He turned to his brother who was in his own thoughts,

"Yami, what do you think of (y/n)?"

The male placed his phone on the table before gazing at his brother,

"I see much potential in her. She is essential to our company"

Yami was always skeptical over new people. He did not trust many due to his past experiences. Especially around Yugi, he was very protective. His brother was his only family, besides his grandpa. He felt very fond of you, and he saw your potential, but he was still not sure if he could trust you. Yugi, on the other hand, felt proud of you. He may have not known you for long, but he knew you wouldn't let him or his brother down. You made your way back to the table smiling before handing them their plates,

"I hope you enjoy your meals. I would love to stay and chat, but I have to get back to my tables"

The two smiled before nodding,

"Goodbye (y/n)"

You waved at the twins, allowing them to enjoy their food. By the time you came back to clean the table, Yami and Yugi had already left. You couldn't help but feel a bit bummed because you wanted to see them again. Upon picking up the plates, you spotted a tip of 200$. One hundred from Yugi and another hundred from Yami. You tucked them into your apron. As much as you would've loved to keep the money, you couldn't. You didn't want them spending their money on you. You made a plan to hand Yami the money back in the morning.
