A month later we were sitting at home one evening, debating what to do with our day off, the following day. "We could go to the courthouse and get married?" I suggested. We were sitting on the couch, and I had my feet in his lap. We already had the license, we just needed to pull the trigger on the ceremony.
"Do you really not want a big wedding?" Koz asked.
I shrugged, "Not really. I'm okay with having a party after the guys get out. I want this to be about you and me, not the club."
"You and me against the world," he smiled, rubbing my feet. "Who do you want to be our witnesses?"
"Lyla said she wanted to do it," I yawned. "Why not just have her and Opie do it? To me, Ope is family. I'd love it if he was there. Is there someone you want there?" I asked.
"Just you," he grinned.
"Right," I laughed. "You don't want your brother there?" I pushed.
"No. Our relationship was never that great. I can't even tell you the last time I talked to him. I'm good with Lyla and Opie. Do you want Gemma there? She might not take it so well if she finds out we did it without her."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "I really don't care if she's there. She and Tara are too much to deal with right now. They'd just find a way to spin it and make me the bad guy, because God forbid I get to be happy while Jax and Clay are in prison."
Koz held his hands up in surrender before he went back to rubbing my feet. "Opie and Lyla it is."
I texted Lyla, asking if she and Ope were busy the next day.
L: We're free. What's up?
D: Feel like being our witnesses?
O: You know Gemma's gonna freak right?
D: I don't really care.
O: It's your funeral. What time do you want us there?
D: One. Meet you at the courthouse.
L: I'm so excited for you guys! See you tomorrow! :)
"We have witnesses," I smiled.
"What do you think about taking a little trip this weekend? You're off, and I'm sure the guys will be able to cover without me. Everything has been pretty quiet recently," Koz suggested.
"Where do you want to go?"
"I was thinking Big Sur."
"I like that. I could use some beach time," I smiled.
"I'll make it happen." Kozik leaned in for a kiss. "Come on, let's go to bed." He put my feet down on the floor as he stood up. "Are you gonna make me sleep in the guest room?"
That question caught me off guard for a minute. "Why would I make you do that?" I asked, standing up.
"Because it's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding," he replied. He seemed serious about it.
"Do you want to sleep in the guest room?" I asked. "I'm not that superstitious about it, but if you are, we can do that."
His cheeks turned red and a blush crept up his neck. "Maybe just a little," he admitted.
"Alright. So I'm meeting you at the courthouse too?" I asked.
"Yeah," he smiled, wrapping my arms around my waist. "I'll be out of here in the morning so you'll have free reign."
"Okay," I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck as I stretched up to kiss him one last time before we went to bed. "Love you."
"Love you too."
