I think the guys had been in Stockton for a grand total of two months before both Gemma and Tara got bitchy and hard to be around. Tara had the added excuse of being pregnant and her hormones were all over the place. It started with small little backhanded comments, and progressed to all out hostility at its peak.
The first time I got snapped at was when Kozik had been on a run for about a week. I'd commented that I was ready for him to come home. They both glared at me, and each launched into a tirade about how they didn't want to hear me talk about Kozik when Jax and Clay were in prison. I just walked away without responding. This was all about a week or so before the wedding.
From there on out, it seemed like I was their new punching bag.
"It must be nice having a warm body to sleep next to every night," Gemma snapped when I showed up to drop something off at the garage to Kozik. I knew better than to respond. I walked out of the office, into the garage, handed my husband what he'd asked for, kissed him, and left to head to work.
Later that week, Tara found me in the cafeteria while I was having lunch and launched into a rant that it wasn't fair that Jax was in prison while she was having his baby, and that she was jealous that Kozik was out here with me. She started yelling at me when I got up and walked away.
That night when I walked into the clubhouse the boys were in chapel with the doors shut. I knocked on the door, and waited for an answer. "Di? What are you doing here?" Opie asked, opening the door.
"I need to talk to my husband," I replied.
"We're almost done," he said.
"Okay. I'll be back in the dorms."
When Kozik finally made his way back to the dorm he never used anymore, I practically jumped him the second he walked in the door.
I attacked his neck, leaving as many marks as I could. "Not that I'm not into whatever this is," he said in between breaths, "But are you okay?" I pushed his kutte off onto the floor, and tried to get his shirt off, but he stopped me. "What is going on?"
"I'm sick of listening to Tara and Gemma bitch about Jax and Clay and that it's not fair you're not in there too," I said. "So now, we're going to have sex just to spite them."
He couldn't help but laugh. "Seriously?"
"Shut up and do me."
I made sure to leave every visible mark on him that I could. I was also extra loud just because I knew Gemma might be stopping by.
Once we were done, I put my clothes back on and kissed him on the lips. "I love you," I sighed.
"Love you too but you've got to stop letting them get to you," he said.
"I know. I try to shut up and take it. If that's what it takes for them to cope, fine. But there's only so much I can listen to without it starting to feel personal. They don't use Lyla as a punching bag. That hasn't escaped my notice."
"Eventually, you will have to say something. Do it while you can control the response."
"You're probably right," I mumbled. "Are we hanging around here tonight, or should I head home and start dinner?"
"Let's have a quiet night in," he said.
"Maybe round two?" I teased.
"Whatever you want, baby," Koz replied with a grin.
...
There was a lot of angry sex while the guys were in prison because I was pissed at Gemma and Tara. Lyla was the only Old Lady I was speaking to toward the end.
