The next day, I had to work, and Kozik had to go back to outlawing.
I got a blood test to confirm that I was indeed pregnant. I wanted to keep it confidential, because I didn't want to risk Tara finding out and telling everyone. I wanted to keep that card as close to the vest as I could, only to play it when or if I had to. Little did I know, that I would be playing that card a lot sooner than I ever thought I would have to play it...
I went home to my husband that night, and showed him my second positive pregnancy test. Kozik was just as happy as he was the day before.
"I need a shower, before I do anything about dinner," I yawned. "Today was brutal."
"You shower and relax. I'll worry about dinner. We can order in and be lazy tonight," he told me.
"Pizza or Chinese. Surprise me," I smiled.
"Yes ma'am."
I leaned up and kissed him before I stripped and went to go take a shower. I couldn't help but laugh when I heard him whistle as I walked away. I took a hot shower, and let all of my troubles melt down the drain. When I got out of the shower, I dried off and put my pajamas on, before going to find my husband in the living room.
"You look comfortable," he commented.
"I am," I yawned, sitting down on the sofa. "So did Clay give you shit about yesterday?" I asked, putting my feet in his lap.
"A little bit," Kozik admitted. "But it could of been worse."
"It could have been a lot worse for you to go out as exhausted as you were," I replied.
"I know," he sighed.
...
Later that night, long after we'd gone to bed, we were woken up by my phone ringing on the nightstand. "What the fuck?" I moaned, rolling over to look at my caller ID.
"Who is it?" Kozik asked.
"Jax." I responded to his question before I answered the phone. "Do you know what time it is, Jax?" I asked. "Because I do, and I wish I didn't."
"I wouldn't be calling at this hour if it wasn't important, Diana," Jax replied. He sounded tense.
"Then do tell, so we can go back to bed," I whined.
"Clay got shot," he told me. I should have expected trouble. No one calls that late with good news.
I'm awake now. "Still breathing?" I asked.
"Yeah. He's at St. Thomas in critical condition. You should come down, just in case," Jax said.
"Fine. We'll be there."
I hang up the phone and let out a long groan. "Fuck me," I moaned quietly as I put the phone back down on the nightstand.
Kozik leaned over and kissed my neck, "You sure we have time for that before we have to be there?"
I looked over, and couldn't help but laugh at the pervy smirk on his face. I turned on my side and kissed him, running my hand up his side. "Maybe when we get back," I mumbled.
"Alright," he pouted.
We got out of bed, and got dressed. "Bike or car?" I asked, as we walked downstairs.
"Car. You're not getting on a motorcycle until after you have the baby," Kozik replied, kissing me quickly, and grabbing my car keys out of the bowl near the door to the garage. "Let's go."
When we got to the hospital, half of the club was sitting in the waiting room. Happy relayed Clay's injuries and that he was going to need several surgeries in order to correct the damage. I sat next to Kozik on a couch to wait out the night, and he wrapped an arm around my waist.
