Chapter 38: Roger's Birthday

The day of Roger's birthday has finally arrived and this is The very last day of her sushi preparation. Roger was on studio. She searched on her computer how she can make sushi. She prepared all the things and ingredients she need and tried to follow the instructions carefully one by one. But she felt it has no satisfaction. She is having a trouble! She do it again and again and again. But for her it is getting even worst. She was helpless. There are even times her cooked rice was burnt. She wants to cry but she don't want to give up. She called her friend Lizzy... When they were high school, Lizzy was the best student for culinary arts.

"Hello! Liezel on the line!" Her friend replied.

"Lizzy, I need your help!" She said.

"Oh! Jilliane!"

"Can you help me prepare sushi?"

"Sushi?!... That is a Japanese food right?"

"Yes... I am having a trouble! I tried to make one but it's nightmare!"

"But Jilliane... Neither i do not know how to prepare it?... I do not know Oriental dishes!"

"But you are our Culinary art student?"

"Yes but... You know by that time, we only prepare Brit food! You know Korean Bibimbap right? I think that would be better..."

"...but Roger's favorite food is Japanese...not Korean!"

"So.. you are trying to make Sushi for Roger on his birthday today ?"

"Yes... You're right..."

"I am very sorry Jilliane... I really do not know how to make one... And I do not yet even tried..."

"Please help me Lizzy! Come here!"

"Well... Ok... But you know it wouldn't be easy for me to come there... Coz... You know my situation... I am pregnant..."

"I'll be the one to get there... Just please... Help me... You know i am really bad at cooking... "

"Ok ... I will help you... I will wait here!"

"Thank you Lizzy!" And she ended the call.

She prepare all the stuffs she needed and rushed to go to Liezel's house. She only have several hours to give this gift to Roger, for the latter must have to go with the band at Ridge Farm before going to Rockfield to start their album.

And finally she arrived at Liezel's house. They had to start immediately, they both do not know how to prepare sushi, but they tried to do it and followed the instructions carefully. But making sushi is really hard. They did it again and again and again. It's already 3 in the afternoon and still they are not yet perfect doing it.

"Oh no! It is already three... Probably this 6 in the evening he is going to leave..." She said with anxiety

"There are still time Jilliane... Do not loose hope! We can make it!... " Liezel said to her.

And they continued to make the sushi, and at last they already made it. Not as precisely as real sushi but they guaranteed it is nice.

"This could is more presentable than the previous ones!" Jilliane said.

"Yes! It is!... I assure you... He will like it!" Liezel said to her.

"Thank you very much Lizzy!"

"That is nothing!... You need to pack it now and go home before Roger leave!"

"Yes...you're right!"

Jilliane starts to clean all the stuffs and the sushi they made and Liezel helped her. But the latter is looking at her seriously and she noticed it.

"Oh!.. why are you looking at me like that Lizzy?! Is there a dirt on my face?" She asked.

"....I am just wondering if you're ok..."

"...hey!... What are you talking about?... Of course i am ok... I am.. good... I am well..."

"I am sorry Jilliane but... I had been noticed this for a couple of days now... Me and Jerry also discussed about this..."

"What is it on me that you had discussed about?" She continued to put her stuffs on her bag.

"...that you're... Falling in love..."

She stopped what she is doing after hearing it. She looked at her friend on eyes and sudden felt the strange feeling that she felt last couple of days. Her heart pound on her chest and she felt her cheeks were hot again.

"See...? You're falling in love with Roger." Liezel said to her.

"...no... You'd gonna be kidding!... I am not falling in love with him! Please don't be ridiculous!" She said to Liezel.

"You're behaviour today is very different... When you came here lately, you're eyes are glowing when you said it was his birthday... And lately this 3 in the afternoon...you became worried for you are afraid we'll never be make it on time...and you might not reach him to give this to him..." Liezel said to her.

"... No Lizzy... I just only want to give him this sushi... That's all... Well... It's time for me to leave... Thanks again for helping me... See ya!" She said to Liezel and she starts to go out on Lizzy's house.

She avoid the conversation and now again she was on a deep thought. Even though she was in a hurry, she is still thinking what her friend told her. Finally she arrived at home and she saw Roger preparing his things for just a short by he is about to leave. She do not know why, but she felt happy seeing him and her heart pound on her chest as he noticed her at the door.

"Where have you been?" Roger asked while packing some of his clothes at the living room.

She doesn't know why... But she felt his voice became the sweetest voice she heard.

"Oh!... I just went to Lizzy's house..." She said.

"Ok... Ah...Jilliane... Have you seen one of my buckles?" Roger asked.

"Wait... I saw it... Just a second" she went where she found it and gave it to him " it was in one of your clothes before i did the laundry..."

"Thanks" he smiled at her.

Once again her heart pound on her chest and she was afraid Roger might hear it. She also felt her cheeks are hot again like a coal.

Roger already finished packing his clothes and went out the house and went to his car. Jilliane followed him. He placed his bag at the car's back and closed it.

"You're leaving now?" She asked him.

"Yeah!... Why?" Roger asked.

"... I...just... Want to give you this..." She gave a cute lunch box. She was really she. Roger has no idea but took it from her. "Happy Birthday!" She said with a smile.

"Is this the sushi present?... You don't have to... But... Thanks!" Roger smiled to her. ".. well.. i gonna go!" He entered the car and starts it.

" ... Roger!..." She exclaimed.

"Yeah?" Roger asked looking at her.

"...take care!..." She said to him.

Roger just only smiled. She felt she is blushing so she turn around.

" Jilliane!" Roger exclaimed in which she turn her head towards him.

"..."my heart"... Take care of it!" He smiled and soon drove the car.

A few moments later Roger was not on her sight. She looked a far until Roger's car vanished on her sight. Now, she felt a longing... And she wonder why... And she remembered what Liezel told her... That she is in love with him... And she is right... Now she confirmed it herself... She was in love ... She was in love with Roger...
