Chapter 14 - After Party

" OMG, I DID IT!" I exclaimed as the crowd erupted into cheer.

I turned to Aiden who high fived me and pulled me in for a kiss. I didn't stop him, because we probably wouldn't be able to hide the emotions we had for each other for long before people noticed.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as people gasped. I could feel their eyes on me, but that didn't have any effect on me or Aiden. He pulled away and looked me in the eyes. They shimmered as they did before when he invited me to play laser tag. The happiness he brought to me when he gave me that look was unmeasurable. We turned our heads towards the crowd, who was now focused only on us. I looked back at Aiden because I didn't know what to do. He just nodded and turned back.

" Well now since I have everybody's attention I might as well do this." he turned back to me

" Dolly, I know we haven't really been talking for that long, but I feel like this is the right time" he stopped and took a deep breath " Will you be my girlfriend?"

I stood there looking at him with my mouth open and thought about what I should say. I knew this man meant more than anything else since the day we had our first proper conversation. I couldn't let him go so instead of overthinking I just spoke my mind.

" Yes," I said as a wide smile appeared on his face. He took my hand and caressed it gently.

I heard an 'awww' in the crowd but nothing else. The rest of the world ceased to exist. I looked into beautiful eyes. He then leaned down and gave me a gentle kiss on the lips before whispering into my ear.

" Let's get outta' here" he whispered softly.

I just nodded and walked away with him, hand in hand. The sand softly touched my feet and the sun gently warmed my skin, but what made this moment special was him. He looked down at me and smiled. We walked to his car and jumped in. He inserted the keys into the car and started the engine. The scenery passed by quickly as he drove. While his eyes were still on the road, his hand slid across the gears onto my knee sending tingles through my body. We drove in silence until I decided to switch on the radio. It so happened that my favourite song was playing. I bopped my head to the beat and started singing.

" Baby let me ride your wave, make me feel alive every day-" I sang softly and turned to look at Aiden how was smiling at me.

We jammed out to the music for the rest of the ride. When the car finally stopped in front of my house, I leaned over to give Aiden a quick kiss before going in. I pressed my lips on his and quickly pulled away. He obviously wanted more since he tried to pull me back in but I didn't let him.

" You're such a tease dolly," He chuckled

" I know," I whispered into his ear and walked away.

I winked and waved my hand to say bye and he drove to his house. When I opened the door, my mom was making dinner while my sister watched. They turned their heads in my direction when I entered the kitchen. Only then did the smell of the spices and the delicious food hit me.

" Smells delicious mom. What are you making?" I said as I walked to my mom looking over her shoulder.

" Your favourite. Sloppy Joe's" she smiled at me.

" Thank you, mom. I love you" I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

" It's nothing honey." she continued cooking.

As I walked out of the kitchen, I ruffled my sister's hair. The door to my parent's bedroom was open and I could see my dad sleeping since he just came back from his night shift. I opened the door to my room and fell face-first onto my pillow. For a while, I just laid there and thought about how much my life has changed these past few months. Time flies by so quickly and we don't even notice it. I got up and walked to the bathroom to take a bath and get ready for dinner.

I turned on the water so that it can heat up before I get in. In the meantime, I remove my clothes and most of my make-up. I enter the bath and burn myself a little from the hot water. I wash and exit the bath. After wiping my body with a towel I get dressed and come down for dinner. My dad and sister are already sitting at the table, anxiously awaiting the food's arrival. I walk to the kitchen to help my mom bring over the dishes. We finally sit down and begin to eat the food. It fell really quiet so I decided to speak.

" So how was your day today mom?" I turned my head towards her.

" Oh, you know the usual. I wrote another chapter of the book I was telling you about, did some chores and other necessities. So it was pretty good." she paused "How about you lovely?" she asked.

My eyes widened and I stopped chewing my food. I looked at my parents and thought about what I should say next. My sister continued eating her food as she waited for my response. The room was completely quiet and the loud ticking of the clock only made it worse. It only made me more anxious and conscious of the passing time. I knew that if I told them the truth they would most definitely flood me with questions. So I swallowed my food and just told them a little bit of what actually happened.

" Well I went to this awesome party and I had a blast," I said in an excited tone.

" Did anything else happen?" My sister gave me a slight smirk. I kicked her under the table to tell her to shut up.

" No, not really." I smiled and continued eating my food.

After dinner, I put my dishes away and headed upstairs to my room. I was genuinely happy at this moment and felt like I was the happiest human on earth. I picked up my phone and decided to text Aiden a goodnight.

'Goodnight love muffin :)'

'Love muffin? So now we have nicknames?'

'Yup. And don't try to deny it. I

know you secretly love it'

' That is very true. Have a good night's sleep baby <3'

'You too.'

I fell asleep with a smile on my face. I felt so happy with Aiden. He made me feel so loved and beautiful. All the moments I spent with him makes me cherish life more than ever. I'm starting to think that Aiden was sent by my grandma because he was the one that helped me be happy again after her death. I wouldn't trade what happened in my life for anything else in the world.
