Recap:
"Stay here." He said as he then began to limp through the dark room and over to the window that had a faint light beaming through it.
"What are you doing?" I asked but instead of receiving an answer he shushed me as he stopped at the window and stuck his head out. A moment later he then gasped as he gestured quickly for me to come over.
"Jade you have to see this!"
_
Instantly I walked over to him as fast as I could with out tripping over something in the dark. Once I made it over to him he then moved aside to let me look out the window.
"What.." I began but was stunned to silence when I absorbed the scene before me.
Everything and everyone below was frozen in mid-motion. It was like looking at a picture.
There was a man frozen in the mist of getting into his car, a cop firing shot that had stilled in the air, a woman spilling her coffee as she crossed the street, two birds fighting mid-flight, and so on. I then looked up at the sky and saw a tear through it that let bright light radiate down onto the scene. It was like someone had pressed pause on the story.
"What did you do?" I asked and Niall shook his head with a befuddled expression.
"I didn't do anything." He said before I pulled away. "Where are you going Jade?" He asked as I began to inch my way over to the door.
"I'm going outside to see what's going on." I said non-chalant even though my insides were doing wheelies. I wanted badly to say confidently that this was part of the story, but I was pretty sure it wasn't.
I mean, why would the author make the story freeze like this?
Unless she had decided to put a Harry Potter twist on it, I doubt the writer had anything thing to do with it.
"What if its not safe?" He asked, trailing slowly after me as he dragged his injured ankle behind him.
"We'll have to take that risk, I want to see what's going on." I protested as I opened the door revealing the dim lit hall.
"You aren't Indiana Jones Jade, you should at least stay in here while I got check it out." He said, following me out into the hall. Talk about sexist comments during a survival situation.
"But what if we're on the brink of some kind of apocalypse and zombies show up? How can you run on your hurt ankle?" I asked, squinting a bit to let my eyes adjust to the apartment as I felt my way down the hall.
"I doubt you can run any faster in that Dalmatian dress." He muttered and I rolled my eyes as we reached the end of the hall then I turned around to look at him.
"Before we end up getting arrested by the swat team can you please decide if your coming or not?" I asked, even though I believed it to be a bad idea. His ankle was hurt, and mine were fine. Then again I really didn't want to go out there alone.
