Natalie pulled the satin covers closer, snuggling as she let out a sigh of pleasure. Seconds later, Zander plopped down next to her, breathless.

She turned and fixated her eyes on him. His chest heaving as his breathing steadied. She reached out, running her hands through his tousled dark brown hair.

"I need to go." Zander mumbled as he glanced at the alarm clock on her nightstand.

Natalie froze as his cold voice ruined any trace of intimacy that had existed between them.

"Oh." She tried to act like it wasn't a big deal. In reality though, she hated how he never spent the entire night. She hated how he easily acted like there was nothing between them.

Maybe it was just sex for him. Sex and nothing more. But then, why didn't she feel the same way?

"Can't you stay a little longer?" She smiled as he turned to his side so he could face her.

"You know I can't." His clouded eyes shifted from her to his phone, just as his phone pinged with another a text.

"Is that your wife?" The words slipped Natalie's lips before she even realized. Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment as Zander smirked at her.

"Jealous?" His phone pinged with another message. It was another frantic text from Misha, asking about where he was. His eyes widened as he glanced at the clock again.

He was supposed to meet her for dinner an hour ago.

"No." Natalie grunted, trying to ignore the tease in his voice. She traced her finger alongside his jaw. "I mean after all, you are here, with me right now. Instead of being with her, you're here, with me."

She spoke with a hint of arrogance. And she watched as the smirk on his face faded, his eyes coloring with guilt.

"I really have to go Nat." Zander sat up, reaching for his black shirt as it lay on the floor. He quickly rushed to get dressed.

He looked around, trying to find where he'd placed his keys. Grabbing them from the nightstand, he turned to Natalie as she sat up, wrapping the sheets around her naked body and not sparing him another glance.

"Nat?" He inquired. "Come on now. I really have to go."

Zander leaned in, pressing a soft kiss against her forehead before moving down to her lips.

"I love you." His movements stilled as she murmured those words against his lips.

Shocked, he pulled away. Her wide eyes staring back at him almost as though she too couldn't believe what she'd confessed.

A loud ring pulled them out of their trace as his phone vibrated with another call.

From Misha.

"What are you ordering?"

Misha looked up from the menu before glancing at Ekta, her sister.

"I don't know yet." She mumbled, smiling but hiding the irritation in her voice. She'd been flipping through the menu for ten minutes but she still couldn't decide on what she wanted to eat. She'd always been a little indecisive. Not to mention, these days, her appetite has been sparse.

She took out her phone, sending another text to Zander. He'd promised her that he would be there – the dinner they were supposed to have with her sister.

"Is Zander even coming?" Misha's laugh was strained. She nodded as her sister whined again.

"He's working on a really important case right now. And he's been very busy with it lately." Misha's voice was soft as she tried her best to sound careless. "So what are you ordering?"

"Are you gonna judge me if I just order a salad?" Ekta teased, easily picking up on how her sister tried to hide her feelings.

She watched as Misha rushed to pick up her phone as it buzzed.

"Is it Zander?"

"No. It's just someone at work. Nathan, he's working with mom and he, he was just asking if I'm working tomorrow." She smiled, hiding the disappointment in her voice. "I'm sure Zander is on his way."

"So are you seeing anyone?" Misha quickly changed the subject, not wanting to worry about what was taking Zander so long.

"Ehh." Ekta shrugged before reaching for a glass of red wine.

"What happened to that guy in your physics class?" Misha teased, laughing as her sister's cheeks reddened.

"You can't tell anyone about that!" Ekta almost screamed, glaring at her sister. "It was a one-time thing." She stressed every syllable.

"Sure." Misha laughed, a playful glint surrounded her as she reached for her glass of water.

"Misha." Ekta swirled her glass of wine before looking back at her sister. "You are happy with Zander, right?"

She watched as her sister looked up at her, biting down on her lip and her brown eyes sparkling under the dim lights of the restaurant.

"Yes." She whispered. "I really am."

Because at the end of the day, all that mattered was her and Zander.

Zander understood her, better than anyone else ever had. He cared for her, in ways no one else ever had before. And Zander, he loved her, in ways she could've never imagined.

Zander made her feel special. Loved and special – like she was the only woman in the entire world.

And Zander, he meant everything to her.

"I am really happy with him." She placed her hand over her stomach – the nausea, her mood swings and appetite changes, she'd finally figured out why.

"I am and I love him so much." She rested her hand over her stomach, rubbing small circles in excitement. She was hopeful and overjoyed.

Her and Zander, they'd be okay. Always.
