Misha pulled the dark blue blanket over her face, cursing at Zander. Why he always made so much noise so early in the morning, she didn't understand.
"Misha?" He stood beside the bedside, dressed and ready to leave for work.
She tightened her grip on the blanket, just as Zander tried to pull it away from her.
"It's already six-thirty. Don't you need to go to work?" He glanced at the clock, knowing that if he didn't leave soon, he'd be late.
She grunted, sitting up immediately.
"I don't feel good."
It was a bit of weakness, tiredness. Or maybe it was the weather, the cool winter and rain. She had a headache and a stomachache.
"Misha?"
She covered her mouth, pushing aside the blanket, running to the bathroom. Zander trailing her.
She bent down, over the sink and splashed cold water over her face.
"What's wrong?" Zander held her, holding her steady.
"I feel like throwing up." She gagged, bending down again. But nothing. She took a few deep breaths. It must've been the frozen dinner last night. Or maybe it was because she'd already worked overtime twice earlier that week, twelve hours straight.
"I'm going to call in sick." She mumbled, standing up straight and holding onto Zander.
Worry filled his eyes as he slowly carried her back to the bed.
"How many times have I told you to not work overtime? You get sick every single time you do." He scolded, well aware of the fact that whenever the hospital was busy, Misha always offered to stay over. And often times, she skipped her breaks, neglecting to eat her lunch. And so, she always ended up like this, aching with pain.
She ignored him, laying down and wrapping the blanket around her again, closing her eyes.
Zander leaned down, pressing a kiss against her forehead. "I'll be home in a few hours, okay? Call me if you need anything."
He waited until she hummed before kissing her forehead again.
"I love you, Misha."

Natalie hesitated before knocking on Zander's door.
He'd asked to see her. She had already been expecting that. And the minute, he'd gotten to work, he'd sent someone to ask her to come to his office.
She didn't regret what had happened between them. But she knew he did. She already knew he did.
She knew he wouldn't want a repeat of yesterday but still, she pulled on her blouse a little and opened the top button, just enough to his gaze wander.
Maybe Zander would change his mind. He was already entangled with her. He must've felt something for her.
Otherwise, why else would he have let things go as far as they had.
She knew it was wrong. Whatever they had done, it was wrong. He already belonged to someone else.
Yet, it didn't feel wrong.
Not one bit.
She'd admired him for so long. It was the main reason why she'd avoided him when she'd first started. And now, after everything that had happened, they couldn't go back to being mere acquaintances, strangers.
She knocked, radiating with confidence.
She knew what she wanted. And she'd get just that.
Zander looked up as Natalie entered his office, locking the door behind her.
"You asked to see me?" Her voice sounded careless. She wouldn't betray a hint of emotion, not until she was sure of how he felt.
"Whatever happened yesterday was a mistake and it can't ever happen again." He blurted out the minute she stepped into his office. The twelve words had been stuck in his throat all evening last night.
"It can never happen again. And no one, not even Misha, needs to know about it."
"Sure, whatever." Natalie seemed unfazed. She already had her answer.
"Look, you're incredibly smart and talented. I know you'll be a great lawyer. And." He swallowed, not sure what else to say. "I'm married. I can't and I won't hurt Misha."
"Me and you, we're work partners, that's it. That's all it will ever be. Whatever fantasy you have that something will happen between us, it won't."
"Is that it?" She interrupted, knowing he'd say something to hurt her if she let him continue.
"Right. Yes. Chris is in this office, if..."
Natalie let out a dry laugh, cutting him off again. "I'm not excusing myself from the case."
She leaned forward, smirking as his eyes wandered to her chest. No matter how much he tried to deny what had happened between them, she knew, very well, that the attraction was there.
Even he couldn't deny that.
"You just said I was a great lawyer." She stated, adamant about working with him. "So I'm sure you understand how winning this single case could jump-start my career. Especially if that win is tied in with your name."
"I'm sure we can both behave ourselves. And your beloved wife won't hear anything from me. That I can promise." A cunning smile on her lips as she stood up.
"Now, is that all Mr. Melton, because otherwise I have to prepare for the client dinner this weekend?"
Zander nodded, his dark eyes cold yet set on her.
How she managed to flip everything around and take control still amazed him. He didn't say another word as she turned around and walked out of his office.
His gaze trailing down her back before settling on her ass. And flashes of the day before, played right before him.
There was something about her. He couldn't name it. Yet something about her, made him feel something. Feel something he not once felt with Misha.
Sure, Misha was great in bed. But there was more to her. Misha was perfect, the perfect woman for him, the perfect wife.
And their marriage, he couldn't have asked for anything better.
Yet, as Natalie glanced at him, once last time before shutting the door behind her.
But maybe it was mundane. His marriage, his work, his life. It was all mundane, the same.
Natalie, though, was not. She was a sprinkle of fresh air, a wind of spring.
Zander leaned back in his chair, shaking his head.
He wanted the excitement. And just maybe, he was going to go for it.
It'd just be a game of fun. And long as Misha didn't find out, it wouldn't matter.
Lust and sex. Nothing more than that.
Mere excitement.
