metanoia - the journey of changing one's mind, heart, self or way of life

Misha sat on the edge of the bed, listless.
She didn't want to deal with anything anymore. Everything, it was way too draining.
She didn't want to deal with her feelings anymore. No matter, how hard she tried she couldn't help but wish to keep pushing everything down. Down and far away.
But in a way, she was sick of it. She was sick of running away.
And the remainder of the wedding had been proof of that.

"Misha." Zander sat down next to her. Misha glanced at him, cautiously. She hated how careless he was. And how he acted like she was still his.
"What are you doing?" She barely whispered as her gaze darted between Zander, on her left, and Nathan, on her right.
"Nathan, right?" Zander smirked slightly. "I think Misha might have mentioned you once or twice."
"Nice to meet you." Nathan nodded before shuffling in discomfort.
Misha could feel her chest tightening. She quickly stood up and reached for Asha.
"Misha."
She shook her head as she began hyperventilating. Refusing to listen to Zander and Nathan, both of who were talking to her at the same time.
At that moment, Misha couldn't hear or see anything. All she could think about was getting away from the both of them.
She picked up Asha before rushing out of the hall.
Zander's eyes trailed her as he stood up to follow her.
"What are you even doing?" Nathan's curt response cut through.
Zander stopped and turned to face Nathan. "Excuse me?" Zander taunted with a small careless laugh. His gray eyes held a hint of warning.
"Haven't you already done enough?" Nathan continued before taking a step forward. He wanted to be the one to comfort Misha.
Zander shook his head before raising an eyebrow, further provoking Nathan. "And you are?"
His voice darkened in anger. Zander clenched his jaw as a small yet menacing smile graced his lips. "Stay out of it. This is between me and Misha."
"Who even are you? You're nothing to Misha, me or my daughter. So stay out of it. Understood?" Zander nodded at Nathan before turning around to leave.
He ran behind Misha as he tried to catch up to her. She had to forgive him.
"Misha. Wait." He grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer to him. "Why are you crying?" He spoke softly, his voice full of affection and care.
"Baby." He caressed as he placed his arms on her shoulder.
Misha couldn't speak another word. Nothing but small, harsh sobs.
"Misha." She began sobbing harder as her mother approached her. "What the hell are you doing? This is your sister's wedding. Are you going to air your dirty linen here?"
Her mother reached for Asha before turning to Zander. "Go get the car and take her home."
Zander stood confused before nodding and rushing out.
